Too subtle. If you are going to do a swap, do a swap!

(And for what its worth, I wouldn't want to lose reverse, I think you'll regret it)

Since I'm sure at least one of you has done this, anybody done highway 101 from SF to Portland? Or vice versa.

Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run,
Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run.
You better make your face up in
Your favorite disguise.
With your button down lips and your
Roller blind eyes.
With your empty smile
And your hungry heart.
Feel the bile rising from your guilty past.
With your nerves in tatters
When the cockleshell shatters
And the hammers batter
Down the door.
You'd better run.

Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run,
Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run.
You better run all day
And run all night.
Keep your dirty feelings
Deep inside.
And if you're taking your girlfriend
Out tonight
You'd better park the car
Well out of sight.
Cause if they catch you in the back seat
Trying to pick her locks,
They're gonna send you back to mother
In a cardboard box.
You better run.
"Hey, open up! HaHaHaHaHaaaaaaaaaa!
[sound of car skidding, followed by loud scream]
"Hammer, Hammer"

Yea, I agree. That is why I didn't do the swap last time. If I can find a forward/reverse rear end off a later model for cheap, that would be best. I need to start looking.

Not worth it unless you don't mind taking an extra day to drive slowly up the coastline.

Once is fun.

Yeah I've never done it, so I'd do it one of the ways and i5 going the other.

Any recommended stops along the way? If I do it I’d probably split that route in half and stay somewhere along the way overnight.

The original engine ran great until the crank seals went. I have that engine here in San Jose. This motor I got off eBay and never did run well. What to do. Sure sucks not having the cart running.

I've made that trip three times.

The best time was in my MGB (because it was the first time).

The second best time was in my miata (because it was a roadster).

The third best time was in my FR-S (third only because mrs humfrz thought she was going to die).

Yep, it's a two day drive, at least. Taking three days is more relaxing.

What to see along the way? Really, it's all about the scenery.

After school starts, during the week is best timing.

Have fun!

WARNING - WARNING - pa-pa rant:

DANG, ignorance and the lack of scientific common sense is out of control.

Our granddaughter is due to start back to school tomorrow and she is required to supply the school with an EpiPen, containing epinephrine (or generic), in case she has a anaphylaxis episode.

So, the one she has, manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals, has expired by one month. Her mother has had it on order for a few months and since it was back ordered it won’t arrive for 10 days after school starts.

There is a national (International) supply shortage, ever since the price was reduced by Pfizer (Mylan) down from $400 to $100 by forcing a generic (made by Teva) into the market place. The manufacturing costs per dose is about $1.00 – yep ONE DOLLAR!

Now, Pfizer has extended the expiration date of the EpiPen by several months (data shows stability up to two years) to accommodate the shortage. Side note, why does the product have a one year expiration date if the active ingredient (epinephrine) has a three year shelf life!

Well now, since my daughter has the one month expired generic product (that doesn’t have a published expiration date extension, the school nurse wasn't going to allow her to attend school until she supplies an updated product (which won’t arrive for 10 days).

I explained the below my daughter to explain to the school administrators the situation.

“Hey folks, Pfizer has extended the expiration date on their epinephrine why can’t you accept that it's logical for the active ingredient (epinephrine) in the generic product by Teva to be as stable. It’s a fucking stable chemical compound delivered by an auto injector. Yep, just like the same damn auto injectors used by the everyday soldier in the Army since the 1940s to self-inject atropine. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to administer the stuff”

Well, she explained that to them and they decided they will allow my granddaughter to start school with the rest of her classmates.

Maybe that’s the reason I get a pension check every month from AstraZeneca -

END RANT - humfrz

You tell 'em, humfrz.

I hate to tell you but ignorance and lack of scientific common sense have always been out of control. Crippling fear of litigation has made it worse.
