My mom had to sit in the back cause I was picking her and my aunt up from the airport. So she was sitting sideways cause her legs wouldn't fit with my aunt sitting in the front, and she goes "you don't love your mother" lol. As in if I loved her, I would have bought a 4 door car

My parents told me to get whatever car I wanted. Everyone else said get a Camaro or Mustang, or used Cayman, or used Corvette, anything but an FRS.

I took out a loan at 23 to buy mine. Biggest mistake was trading in my Saab for it rather than keeping it and having 2 cars (I let my parents convince me to trade it in).

Anyway, not everyone who takes out a loan to get a car is clueless. Yes, it doesn't usually make the most financial sense from an investment perspective, but neither does buying one of the twins to begin with. It also makes no financial sense to have children, but people do that too.



That being said, OP, you should really do the math to see if you can actually afford it, and take a look at what you have to give up to do so. Your parents may have a point, and while you don't have to listen to them, you should definitely consider their reasoning. Rather than dismiss their advice, my suggestion is to ask for paths that lead to you getting the car you want and see what they say. Maybe you pick up a side job for a year, or reduce spending on something else? Or simply wait a year?They know you better than anyone on the internet does.

My mom thought it was silly to buy one but still enjoyed the car. When I got my updated BRZ, she said the same thing again. My dad thinks I simply painted my old FRS yellow.
