As someone that owns a 2010 3.8 track, I agree. The 2013 GC is noticeably better than either the twins or old GC though, I will say that.

Having done a longer test drive of someone's FRS and driving my GC, I would say I personally prefer the FRS. While the GC is faster in a straight line, has more options, and room - everything else about the FRS is better. Its simply more fun to drive the FRS. The GC is not a bad car, but it really is for someone that would consider a Mustang instead and in the end I think someone would might pick the FRS would not like the GC or Mustang as much.

popcorn.

these threads are entertaining when people throw subjectivity in the garbage and start making comparisons on dollar figure. pftfbtbfbtbfbtb

The one I drove was a 2013 GC. The interior is nice but in a luxury car kind of way. It just doesn't look sporty. Especially the shift knob and steering wheel. Of course you can change both relatively easily. The car is pretty nice to drive though. I only drove it in straight line pretty much since the salesman did not take me on any turns.

I don't disagree it's perhaps less sporty, but the point I was trying to make is simply they used nicer materials from the dash to the seats even if you don't prefer the styling.

After taking the FRS out for some tests and having our own 2.0T and V6 Genesis. I feel that the two cars should not be compared together. There is no better car with these comparisons.

Each vehicles have their own unique characteristics that I find appealing. Both cars have great potential in this industry and its up to the aftermarket industries to enhance these characteristics to have these vehicles tailored to everyone's specific wants and needs.

Although both cars fall into similar brackets, one must take into consideration the design intentions of the design engineers behind both of these cars.

Here we have Hyundai finally hitting full stride as a company, making good cars and establishing a foundation for good quality. The GC is their halo car, it's out to challenge the competition i.e other RWD sports cars in it's price bracket. The numbers matter to Hyundai and their GC, horsepower and torque numbers, along with all those other number based ratings.

Now we have Toyota, trying to find their inner passion for sports cars they've lost and forgotten. It's been nearly 10 years since they've offered anything truly competitive in terms of sporty cars. The MR-S was a great car, and the Celica had some good qualities in its own right, but the lack of sports car passion from the top of the corporate chain as well as disinterest from the general public ultimately led these cars to their ends. For the GT-86/FRS, the engineers sought to challenge the design, rather than push out a car with less passion and cookie cutter specs to play the numbers game.

Yes I do agree. I already said their materials are better. Just prefer the styling of the FR-S better but of course that is IMHO. The interior of the GC isn't bad. In fact, the whole car isn't bad but the 3.8 V6 does cost a lot more.

It's not a Versus thread, it's a Review video. The title is a bit misleading and I will correct it.

The last truly great toyota sports cars were the Supra and MR2. The MR-S and the Celica were good cars but they could have been better, this was when Toyota lost its mojo....

And don't forget the LFA...simply awesome, but most people can't afford it. But it still has the best sounding V10 engine on the planet!

The FR-S\86 is a perfect starting point for Toyota. There is nothing else like it on the planet except for its twin sister the BRZ.

I think toyota has its mojo back and we will see the return of the Supra, Celica, and MR2.
