Autoguide.com Video: Scion FR-S vs. Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Nothing I didn't expect. The FR-S is definitely more fun to drive but the Genesis is STILL faster. :burnrubber:

All in due time...

brichard0625 07-12-2012 09:15 AM

And it was only a second faster...i can deal with that! put some better tires on the frs and genesis would have a problem

Hanzo 07-12-2012 09:29 AM

It would be interesting to see if they both run on the exact same tires.

I test drove a 2013 Genesis Coupe 2.0T in my search for the perfect fun car.

Good:
1) Usable back seat
2) Very easy to go very fast (in a straight line)

Bad:
1) Steering and pedals felt 'dead' to me, like my inputs didn't have a direct effect on the car
2) Suspension was.. well.. too soft, interior too fancy.

Overall, It didn't have the feel I was looking for. I wanted a car that made me feel like I was part of the car and the road. The Genesis didn't provide that.

What tires you would change to the GC? They are already terrific...

Edit:

and little bit of LOL. GC brakes did fade after 1 or 2 fast lap... Gotta be something wrong in that particular car.

I test drove both when deciding on a car, I think if it was just the FRS vs 2.0T Genesis, I would've gone with the FRS, but the fact you can get the upgraded v6 with 350 HP, that blows the FRS out of the water

Thanks for the video. I've driven the 3.8 V6 Track. Its not a bad car but I don't agree the interior is nicer than the FR-S. Material wise maybe but I prefer the look of our interior.

The 2.0T already blows the FRS out of the water, so what's your point?

BioRage 07-12-2012 11:03 AM

The Genesis new front is ugly.

/thread.

To each, their own.

And the "3.8 V6 Track" is almost equivalent to the price of an STi here in Toronto.

BRZ $27,295.00
GC V6 Track $36,999.00
STI $38,195.00

Just saying, my personal preference would to be to get an STi, even if they aren't the same platform.

Genesis Coupe isn't a bad car, but I tend to agree that the FR-S is a way better option.

Yeah, the fact that you can spend $37K on a Genesis Coupe over a $25K FR-S totally blows it out of the water... right.

Or, you could take $30k and get yourself a new Mustang GT, which is one of the best performers in its class, and is still RWD.

:dnftt:

Seriously, though the price point is what makes the GC unappealing to me. Just seems like you can get so much more car for $37k, and more headroom to boot. :iono:
