Toyota 860 owners question.

Just noticed the leather on my shifter is peeling, car has 7k miles. Anyone else? Is this covered under warranty?

Hmm yeah I would bring it in, I've never seen that before. I know people have issues with the MY17+ steering wheels peeling though.

Given how new the car is it's very unlikely that they won't cover replacing it under warranty. Sure, over time wear and tear will do that, especially on a manual where you're handling the shifter frequently, but it shouldn't happen within a year of the car existing on the road.

Could be they had a batch of defective synthetic cow. It happens.

Mine isn't doing that yet (I'm at about 10k miles), but I'm sure it will. I tend to do that to any parts I touch eventually (high pH skin or something maybe?). I did notice a small spot on the driver's seat that is wearing though.

Also (and totally off subject), I made a thing and I was curious how many other people have both an 860 AND Weather Tech mats (you do). Should I get more of these made or what?

I'd be careful there's probably alot of people that would be interested. But selling it on the forums might require moderator permission of some kind.

Would they be able to get another one with the orange stitching though?

I know. Obviously if I wanted to make multiple versions with FRS, BRZ, and 86 logos that would generate a lot of interest. 860 logo specifically... maybe not quite as much. But of course I would do it right and become a vendor or whatever if it went that far.

They are the same type of sticker as the stock emblem, but the adhesive on the back isn't as strong as the WT ones, so you have to supplement it with something like superglue or 3M tape.

Bubba says to clean it up with saddle soap then apply some black shoe polish ..

Then keep your hands out of your pants while driving
