I bought the 7/70 warranty, it's transferrable and backed from SOA. Also you can cancel and get a prorata refund. I would generally say no to a warranty, but I'm risk averse on this large purchase. I plan to get the next gen brz before my extended warranty is up.

Realistically, the only major f-up so far was high pressure fuel pump being noisy for some when used with 10% ethanol (US) gasoline. Toyota-Subie should take care of it.

this is kind of off topic, but does the floor mats come with the car or do they charge extra for it?

If they offer me a good price for the warranty, I think I'll take it. New motor with probably expensive parts. I liked to do my own work on my cars when I was in school, but with a new full time job I have to evaluate how much my time is worth. It may pay off to have the dealer do warranty work rather than take off time from work to fix something. Also this will be my daily driver and the warranty provides a loaner vehicle if I need it when my car is being serviced.

That might be the part of ext. coverage not covered by basic warranty. Unless Subaru recently decided to mandate loaners for all their dealers. This used to be voluntary and not many dealers participated.
