How to mount phone being used for gauges

I'm going to run a bluetooth OBD2 code scanner, which will let me set up my phone to render something like 6 gauges based on ECU data - but I need to mount the phone somehow. It will also be running Racechrono when I'm at the track.

Any clever solutions out there for a clean, driver-viewable install of a Samsung galaxy 5 in the FT86 platform?

My car is mainly for track-use, so I need the phone mounted pretty solid.

oooh. That's nifty, monkey.

I should have clarified in my original post that my car is mainly for track-use, so I need the phone mounted pretty solid.
Would/have you tracked that mount, monkey? Wondering how it would fair.

I did search the site before posting this. Didn't find anything which seemed unusual.

I've never tracked with it but I've never had an issue with it falling off either.

I use an iphone SE because I got sick of massive phones so it would also depend how big and heavy your phone is.

+1 for Scosche MagicMount
I prefer the mount on the center vent though.

The mount itself has rubber clamps for thin or thick vents. The 86 has 'thick' vents... However, if you turn the mount so you're using the clamps made for 'thin' vents, it won't budge. After several months use, the mount still clamps on well. It'll start to slip off if you give it a violent shake, like running over some bumps or potholes. A simple push back into the vents and you're good to go.

I've never had it completely fall off the vent, but if you don't re-adjust it after each violent shake it will fall off the vent eventually. Just don't drive over a series of potholes or broken pavement and you'll be fine.

Proclip has a fairly sturdy dash mount just to the right of the infotainment screen. It will not fall off or need to be adjusted. You can also look for a RAM floor mount if you want it closer to the steering wheel. That doesn't look neat but you can put it exactly where you want it.

I have used the Scosche MagicMount with the adhesive mounted to the right of the radio, several times at the track with no problem. Use the large plate supplied with the mount. Evan if it were to come off it will land on the riders side.
