Is that a turbo mounted front and low in the first pic?

you see that turbo too?

Yeah, seems lame how Subaru Australia dropped the ball big time. I guess that's what happens with all the 'old' people running these businesses.

After 18 years and 7 cars, I reckon that's just about the end of the line for me and Subaru.

Nick Senior thinks he's a clever marketer, but I was planning to buy 2 Subarus this year ... now it will be none.

Toyota, here I come.
Same sort of deal here. I have brought 3 new Subaru's over the years. If the 86/BRZ where released at the same time I would have probably brought the BRZ. But since the Subaru's dealers knew nothing and just made stuff up I went and joined the waiting list for an 86 (back in June). In fact I found most of the Toyota dealers nicer to deal with.

"Thank you for your enquiry into the Subaru Brz. Subaru Australia originally released 200 Brz for pre sale in April this year, Unfortunately all these vehicle were snapped up and will be delivered at the end of July. The good news is that Subaru Australia are once again accepting pre orders for the next shipment of these sought after vehicles, these will be deliverable in Feb 2013. We understand that Subaru are offering Only a premium model in either manual or Automatic. Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but as with the first 200 customers that pre ordered we are entering a indicative price of approx 42k for a manual and 44,500 for the automatic, this price will then be adjusted once pricing is announced. The contracts are drawn up “subject to final pricing” to give customers confidence in putting a hold on a vehicle."

Also just to confuse everyone more... http://www.ausmotive.com/2012/07/11/subaru-australia-prices-brz-sub-38k-driveaway.html

Yes.

" Further to my e-mail yesterday I have now received pricing for the BRZ; hopefully this will help in deciding which model you may be interested in. We will also have a BRZ, in the dealership, hopefully for the weekend if you wish to come and have a look, this model I am told will be the manual model in Blue.

Please let me know if you would like to make an appointment and I will confirm as soon as the vehicle arrives here.

std Manual model $41,250
std Auto Model $43,990
Leather trim model manual $42,750
Leather trim model auto $45,490

Prices quoted are drive away.

I look forward to hearing from you."

EDIT: So my dealer was full of crap.

That says "An AUSmotive reader was today told the driveaway price for a 6-speed manual BRZ would be $37,150" !?

Edit: Just saw ReppohC's reply, that looks pretty official.

It surely must be.

Taking into account what you don't get as standard, I still put it as at least $4k more expensive than an 86 GTS.

That's a very expensive little number on the centre console.

I figure that must be the base price without ORC (which would push it up to about 41k). I'm only telling you what I've recieved first hand through talking to my dealer. Maybe my dealer is full of sh*t. Maybe they are still speculating. Maybe they are taking advantage of the situation.

Nothing is true until there is official word from Subaru. Another guessing game it seems.

Yeah sorry I hadn't seen your full reply before I posted. That sounds about right.

So $42,750 for a leather manual, which you'd have to add Sat Nav and Floor Mats to consider it equal to the GTS (anything else?) which I suppose would be at least another $1,500? ~ $4k more than a GTS... That's a bit of an ask?

Also yeah true, people posted about some of the Toyota dealers were ramping the Dealer Delivery charge, hard to say if yours is too until Subaru website has a price to compare against...
