I passed with no issues or questions at the Eatontown DMV. The tech had an interest in cars, not sure whether or not it helped.

"Is this a Toyota or Subaru?"
After looking in the engine bay "Is this a rotary?
"If I bought the Toyota version do I still get a Subaru boxer?"
"How much power is this?"

He drove it over the cameras and looked in the engine bay and didnt ask a single question.

When they hook up the car to the ODBII they just care about that the sensors are working and match their database. As long as it's not overly loud or has tinted windows no one should have any issues. Glad it worked out.

I know, but I've been worrying about them looking for my cat and/or hooking up a sniffer. Fortunately the bottom plate hides everything, for the most part.

And my front windows are tinted but from what I heard they don't check/care anymore. I left them down to be safe.

Probably also helps that he's not familiar mechanically with the car....
