1986 Nissan 720

Going to look at this mini truck soon. This one seems to be in excellent condition and 5 speed manual. Thought it would a cool work/commuter vehicle.

My buddy is already hating on how it looks though lol.

Anyone have any experience, or know things to look for on these trucks?

Will post pictures if I decide to take her home.

Edit: well looks like the deal fell through. Said he already sold it to his buddy even though we agreed to meet Monday. Off to find another

My first car was a 1991 Nissan D21 King Cab, if I had the space to conveniently store it I never would have sold it.

Drive it, if you like it, buy it. If it's anything like it's next generation it should be robust and cheap to maintain, but at nearly 30 years old it will always have something breaking or in need of fixing, daily driving it will keep it alive but it's age will show, i.e. cracked plastics that are impossible/impractical to replace, if it's pristine now it won't be in 5k miles of being used. But the mechanicals are probably solid and aside from a big ticket item needing replacement every 2-3 years it should never leave you stranded if you take care of it.

By big ticket I'm talking like $500 and a day or two to fix max, water pump, driveshaft, clutch, timing chain, tires, and a windshield all went into mine. I had $3k into the truck over five years and sold it for $2k, probably the cheapest to operate vehicle I'll ever own.

And definitely stick with the manual transmission, gutless engine + 80s slushbox would be misery, at least with the Mt you'll be able to keep up with traffic without putting your foot to the floor, although my Nissan had better torque than my 86.

Good to know they're easy to work on. Was mainly looking for a toyota, but is probably one of the cleanest mini's I could find. The Volk te37x wheels are a added bonus. Seems good 6 lug wheels are hard to find.

720's are my favorite mini. They look great low, and especially with a dancing bed.
