I suspected that there might be something special about the pressure plate making the movement more precise. I'm over it.
There is some defection in the diaphragm spring and also the steel stamping/clutch cover during the diaphragm spring movement. This deflection does delay the point where the pressure plate starts to lift during the spring travel.
