My advanced multiplier would always end up at 1, so I just opened up the tune in RomRaider and made it start at one. I use 94 octane fuel.

The actual tune itself wasn't a big improvement over the version 2 tunes I used when I was on 91. Doesn't really seem any faster.

2017 AT

Hello all,

I've read through this whole thread and just wanted to double check a few things since my tablet just arrived.

It appears the tablet did not come pre-loaded with any tunes as the "write" function is greyed out.

I drive a 2017 AT BRZ and wondering which tune to download from OFT website. From what I read it should be K00D? Can anyone send me the proper link for what I need?

I'm assuming it did not come pre-loaded due to it still being in beta?

Cheers

Take a look at this thread, has all the info you need - its normal for the write option to be greyed out until you first read your stock ECU data into the OFT.

Thanks, that thread was helpful! OFT read my stock tune but still nothing available on the tablet for MY17+ AT cars. Does anyone have the latest beta they can send me? (K00D)
Thanks!

Has Shiv released any new version of the v4 tunes? Last I checked was 4.03 which added some new CalID. Anything newer than that release?

Does fuel need to be adjusted for the v4 Stage 2+ E85 tune? I know we had to on v2 but I couldn't find the place on roomraider this time, so figured I'd ask..

What is your average fuel consumption people with V4 tunes (stage 2 or 2+) compared with V2 and more importantly compared with stock and Wayne's maps?

Someone mentioned Wayne's VVT maps work very smoothly on >MY17 cars but increase remarkably the fuel consumption and despite the current very expensive prices of fuel I wonder which maps to chose as base for my EUDM MY18 BRZ with black "old" intake and 200ps.

I would like to make a comment because of this question. Many people focus only on power key figures without considering the changes in consumption.

So, it depends the kind of consumption. If someone is interested on the consumption in the 3-4.5k rpm range using the cruise control on the highway, then the stock tune should be the best. Reason is that there is a software EGR function in this area. If someone is interested on consumption on higher rpms, then all the aftermarket tunes should be better. The stock tune is quite rich on fuel in this area. Some years ago there was a discussion about this and Toyota mentioned that they used in the NBR 24h race a changed tune. Not mainly for more power per se, but for a better pit stop strategy. Post here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=13

The only aftermarket tune that I am aware to combine both "worlds" is Cosworth's 1.0 tune, but not their 1.1 1.2 and so on tunes. In the base tune they keep the EGR function up to the 4.2k rpm range and on higher rpm's they use a more agressive fuel and timing map. The tune is locked, but I was able to find it with some logging and comparing the parameters per rpm with the ones from a stock tune. Their exhaust VVT angles stay pretty much the same in the 3-4.2k rpm area. Of course, some people HATE the torque dip and will accept everything to fix it. In such case the latter tune is not the best option.

Why the EGR function saves you money

Here is a nice article about the EGR function and how relates to fuel economy. In our cars it is not really a valve, but it is programmed in the ECU.

The main reason for the differing fuel economy is the setting on the closed loop fueling tables. Closed loop is where you spend the majoroty of the time when your driving for economy, ie steady or light throttle.

The CL fuel tables are an offset from 14.7 so if you see -0.1 in table it means its targeting 14.7-0.1=14.6

Below are Closed Loop fuel tables from Stock OFT V4 and Wayno

As you can see Stock is way leaner followed by OFT V4 then Wayno the richest.

If you want better economy then lean the Cloesed loop fuel table in the load/rpm range you cruise at a lot

doing that may result in more tenancy to knock hence you may need to pull timing hence reduction in smoothness and power. Just depends what you want or try increasing the direct Injection percentage of fueling.

On the highway probably not a lot in it you would be arround 2600 load 0.7

so stock AFR 14.5
oft V4 AFR 14.35
wayno afr 14.35

But arround town light throttle your likely in the range 2000-3000 rpm loads 0.7 to 1 where as you can see

stock at 2500 load 1 your still 14.5
OFT V4 same load/rpm AFR target is 13.5
Wayno AFR Target 13.3

i have no problem in fuel economy during steady throttle, and i leaned my closed loop afr already many months ago
with wayno rom i ve just noticed a lot more consumption during low throttle acceleration driving around the city, also instant and average mpg on dash show more consumption of i drive around city

i guess the vvt settings of wayne are really crucial in these, specially cam intake looks soo much aggressive than stock and ots's ones
but as i said, wayne rom is SOOOOO smooth at low to mid rpm and load, i don t really care anymore of the wasted gasoline

So stock is also better on fuel consumption in the range of 2-3k rpm. Nice to know!
