That much clear coat will weigh down the car too much, probably ruin it.

Make it too hard to crush though so I will be stuck with it. I guess I will have to weld some parts on to make up for it since god knows bolt ons won't do anything.

I plan to have the hood and rear deck clear coated again, which theoretically should fill in all the swirl marks. I have an excellent body man who has done good work for me before. He tells me he can spot paint some of the chips since he'll be clear coating over them. I plan to track the RS so I'll have to figure out some kind of upfront protection. I don't tailgate, and my 05 Miata with 98,000 miles has very few rock chips up front.
I'm thinking a Colgan bra might be the best for track, rather than a clear bra. More protection and cheaper. Once I get the clear coat done I'm going to ceramic it. A guy here who has a good rep recommends Crystal Serum Light, or maybe the pro version. I'm not sure.

I spec'd full front end PPF when I purchased. It makes life far easier removing road debris and bugs.
I had Full hood, mirrors, bumper, and half fenders done.

I used opti-seal on the rest of the car, but I'm not satisfied with simply sealing it anymore. Next on the list is a ceramic coat, and window tint.

I regret not getting a full-vehicle clear bra when I bought the car. Now that I know, the next time around I'm going to take it straight off the lot to a detailer to have it detailed, clear braed, and ceramic coated on the whole car. It's too late now though, I'm just around 9k miles and the front of the car is already trashed from rock chips, as are the side mirrors, front fender, rear quarterpanel, and I have a huge chip out of the rear bumper cover. Roads are nasty and there's lots of lifted trucks kicking rocks on highways in Texas.

I got the car back with fresh clear coat on the hood, trunk deck and spoiler. It looks gorgeous, swirl marks are completely gone and the whole operation only cost $350. I'm afraid to drive it though because the clear coat has to cure for a month before I can ceramic it. On top of that, we're in a horrendous lovebug season here in Florida. For anyone who doesn't know about that, the little devils come twice a year for a week or two, and if you hit a bad swarm you can get hundreds on your car in no time. They're full of acid and must be removed promptly or they'll cut right through your paint if left on for very long.

I avoid tailgating and driving close to other cars. I also try to stay on the access roads as much as possible around SATX. I get the occasional tiny chip on my BRZ. Though, my wife's FR-S front bumper is lookin' rougggghhhh (don't get in her way lol ).
