I would urge you to use a separate pad for track days and separate for street/autox. You run the risk of fade, rotor damage from overheating, and other things on the track if you're running a non-track pad. Get W1 or 2 for the street and autox and get W3 or 4 for the track. If I were you I'd get W2 and W4. I'd also recommend getting a set of rotors for each so you aren't mixing pad compound types.

I think the W3 is the most aggressive pad I would need. I mostly do Autocross, but have been looking at doing some Track X events and maybe a track day this year. How noisy at the W3's in general? I don't mind some dusting as long as it's not corrosive.

Performance pads will mostly always be dusty and corrosiveness is not an issue with W3. Noise is non-existent if you use them correctly (bed them right without ABS). |

Hello,
I've been looking for an upgraded pad for an upcoming track day I might attend in 6 weeks. A friend of mine had recommended me towards the Winmax W4 pad, but going through this thread is the Winmax W3 better for me? My car will be mostly a street car that will enjoy spirited driving and occasionally see the track (haven't decided how frequently yet). In fact this upcoming track event will be my first track event. My car right now has some Castrol DOT4 brake fluid, stock brake lines, MPSS tires, and stock rotors. I do not mind having a dedicated street pad and a dedicated track pad, I almost prefer having a dedicated track pad so I always have a street pad on the drive home. Which would I benefit more from between the W3 and the W4?

@MisterSheep
Depends on your driving style, experience, and whether you can actually push the car hard enough to hit brake fade. If you don't have enough experience, any performance street pad + fluids would suffice. -alex |

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I've run into an issue with my Winxmax W3 pads. I was installing new rotors tonight and when removing one of the pads it just kind of broke apart. It's like the pad material itself totally separated from the plate. I'm really hoping this will be covered under warranty. Anybody ever had this happen?

I took this pic after it happened last night. Don't think I ever came close to overheating them as they've only been used for street and Autocross. The hottest they've probably ever gotten was when I bedded them in. |
