This will be my last post in this thread.....thank god. Losing a loved one is never easy. Losing someone at the hands of someone else's carelessness adds insult to injury. This has somehow turned into street racing vs. Marijuana and/or video games and I take the blame for that. The one thing we all have in common is an interest in vehicles that are a beyond basic transportation. The automotive aftermarket and performance/hotrod/sportscar/racing culture is deeply rooted in American culture. You can stick your head in the sand, pretend it doesn't exist, or try to rule it out of existence, but you will NOT succeed. You don't like the effect street racing has on society and I don't like the effect GTA, Need for Speed and Call of Duty have on society. We disagree on what has a more detrimental effect, but at least we're not Camaro vs. Mustang guys, right? Humans have been acting irresponsible forever, often at the expense of other peoples lives. You and your children are going to face this every day, we all do. Sometimes we are thrown into situations where others are acting irresponsible and may cause us harm, and there is no way for us to get out of the way. This can be a real mess and can go very wrong. Sure the irresponsible ones are at fault, but this does not matter much if the innocent bystander is injured or dead. Street racing has, for the most part, spawned much of what we enjoy as an auto enthusiast. Drag racing is a direct result of street racing. Despite the dangers it is alive an well in every small town and every big city in the US. Media coverage does nothing but glorify it, inviting more racers and more spectators. Check out the whole 12 O'clock Boys scene in Baltimore, talk about a danger to the public. That said, more media coverage has made it explode in popularity and spread across the country. Again I'll circle back around. EVERYTHING is about managing risk. If the young people in your life do not have enough life experience to understand how to manage that risk it is up to you to teach them how. If you expect society to behave, act responsible and protect your loved ones you are putting a lot of faith in the most unpredictable thing on this planet.

Please don't street race. That's really all that needs to be said on this topic. There's no excuse for doing it and there's no debate to be had.

Agreed. And it's really a no-brainer not to do it at Marine Drive when PIR is literally 10 minutes away and is or will be doing late night drags soon enough as the weather gets better.
