When I was stock I would say this car was still a terrific car with its 160whp/132wtq because the chassis is great.
Engine 7 Chassis 10 8.5 overall Now with 300whp/255wtq and some upgrades in obvious areas to deal with power it's a Engine 10+ Chassis 10+ Just friggin perfect! I'm also satisfied at this point 10 months boosted and care not for anymore power. I would rather focus now on lightening up the car in areas possible. |

Well, most everyone operating a vehicle has a certificate they've earned that deems them a safe and competent operator. That's about how I interpret most certifications: someone who could drink enough corporate kool-aid and follow a book.

Yes you are right. I don't agree with all the laws either. For example, we have here a strange rule and they will not pass a coilover with separate height adjustment from the spring preload. Probably some strange old historical reason. Sometimes it is very restrictive of what you can do and then you hear on the road a very loud factory certified exhaust. Obviously with an exhaust valve. However, I prefer to have rules than nothing.

Well in Canada it is an extensive 6 year apprenticeship mixed with some pretty rough college courses to become a licensed automotive tech. It is not easy and since many tasks require that licence it weeds out the lazy or dumb in a hurry. Now for that same guy to receive mist "certifications" (I.e. Safety check inspector) it is pretty much pay the fee and attend the class. Now since many certifications require the licence first then you have hopefully weeded out those lazy and dumb already. Doesn't mean that some don't slip through though.

As I said, arguing this line further is clearly a political discussion. I would advise against further political discussion as it is against the forum's rules and regulations. And we wouldn't want to break any rules now would we? Otherwise we would live in a jungle and everyone says what they want and everyone sells what they want and so on.

Agree with the first but not the second part of this. There is no need for them to have drank the kool-aid. Many people that get certified for things have to as part of their job and hate the idea as much as anybody else. Being certified for something does not automatically mean you agree with it.

I went for a morning ride with my fully certified and inspected (but ruined!) car. It was a blast!

Just keep in mind that when a factory says that FI would "ruin" a car they have to satisfy also all the different parameters in countries. If they were selling the car in a single country, then things might be much easier ... |

then of course a lot of people put lower et's rims because Police men are not willing to measure it unless you have extreme values that goes out of the shape of the fenders i can t put 16, 18 or 19" rims in my Brz unless they are "NAD" and "Sistema Ruota (wheel system, translated)" certified, and basically only OZ makes them (and just few models ) :/ |

2) Agreed. It's not just laws, but also the engineering and business standards of both Subaru and Toyota. See my post on the first page which I feel does a good job of explaining this. |
