Very nice build. I live in McAllen and performance anything is difficult to find. There's a newish shop that seems to have a decent following among high end euro-trashy set. I have a set of whiteline camber bolts that I'll be installing pretty soon and will probably have them do an alignment. I don't track the car and for street driving -1.5 is probably plenty.
How well does the ceramic coat on the header control under-hood temps? I don't recall seeing a reference to the steering rack. Did you do those bushings?

Did not touch anything on the steering rack. Ceramic coating on a header helps a lot, I don't have data, but you can feel a difference in temps under the hood coated vs non-coated after a spirited run. You could most likely run non-coated stainless steel header without problems but for road racing I would always go with coated. I do all the work myself but also have a trusted shop in town that I run to when I am stuck or out of time.

And here's the last mod the car needed:
MCS TT1 coilovers with 550/550 springs Vorshlag camber plates Vorshlag spherical rear upper shock mounts Whiteline endlinks I installed the fronts today, will tackle the rears tomorrow, and get the car aligned sometime next week before I hit MSR Houston. From now on, it is hopefully just routine maintenance -- brake pads, tires, fluids. May do a flex fuel tune if I feel I still need more power, but that will be pushed into the fall. |

Got everything installed, the front is sitting at about 6" and the rear at about 6.25" from the frame at the pinch welds to ground. Tightened the end links using my ghetto platform setup and everything is snug and tight.
There is pretty bad clunking from the rear over road imperfections, I think this is due to the spherical shock mounts, will talk to Vorshlag tomorrow and see what they say. |

The clunking was caused by loose top nuts, not sure yet whether Vorshlag ships them like that or whether it was an oversight on their part. After tightening everything feels great, going for an alignment tomorrow.

Got the car aligned, -3.1 camber front, -2.8 rear, 1/16" toe in rear, 1/16" toe out front. I removed the Whiteline camber bolts so the front camber is with both stock shock bolts. Took the wheels off so many times that I think the OEM wheel studs are getting softer, I have extended ARP studs on order just in case.

You don't have to sell me on Vorshlag products, but what did their camber plates offer that the others didn't to warrant the switch? Or was it just a package deal with the MCS?

It was a package deal with the MCS. I have RaceSeng plates for sale now but if they do not sell I will be more than happy to reuse them at some point on a "back up" set of coilovers.

Installed ARP extended studs over the last two days. Super easy install, just takes time. Now my wheels have nipples.

Did another oil change, at 7,608 miles. Installed the Verus throttle pedal spacer and was about to change the brake pads when I realized I still had a tad over half the pad thickness. Considering I have six road racing weekends on the pads, they wear like iron.

Looks like you've been enjoying the BRZ. I'm jealous you've been hitting the track so much. Those wheels are tight. Favorite mod?

With the coilovers, wheel clearance on the strut side opened up quite a bit too. |

Well, went to COTA and that was all for the pads.
![]() Put new pads in, went to MSR Houston, and I am not sure at what point but the front rotors got warped. Replaced with KNS rotors ($100 a piece) and headed to Eagles Canyon, still need to go over the car to see what kind of wear and tear I put on the brake system. Next things on the agenda: 1. Putting Whiteline camber bolts back in and going back to -3.5 camber or so; -3.1 is not cutting it, that tire wear! 2. Got on a Beastronix wait list for their Nanny86 (eliminates the pedal dance and more). 3. Need a louder exhaust -- road racing with the windows down, wind noise, etc, I cannot tell if the car is at 4,000 rpms or 7,000 rpms. Need to find something that is civil under 4,000-5,000 rpms and then screams to the redline. |
