Good reminder about the tender. I keep mine plugged in at home, this will be year 4 on the battery. I've never needed a jump, and have never had issues on road trips where we don't drive for a few days.

Its a bummer KC Machine isn't around any more, their tray is really nice.

Yea, it holds a charge good. I have left the OBDII Bluetooth adapter in the car after racing, and that seems to discharge the battery.

It does. I've gone below what the tender likes with dash cams in in parking mode, but never so low I needed a jump. The r/c thing has me wondering if I should be replacing mine since it was in my old car when it was crashed... Though I guess I've crashed my r/c batteries a few times too...

If it fits the shorai it's probably fine. Note you need the hold down to go the long way or you won't be able to plug in the tender.

Is a battery tender necessary on a daily driver? I start my car just about every single day.

For the Shorai? Personally, I'd run it just because it does a cell balance, but I imagine you can get away without a tender. You probably won't get quite the same life-span out of the battery. Shorai has all sorts of notes that are probably worth reading through just to get a sense of what they recommend...

I don't use a tender with mine since I daily it, but if you are gone for 4+ days it can go flat (you could just disconnect the battery since it won't self-discharge, but a small parasitic drain from OBDII or other stuff will deplete it after 4-6 days without driving).

As for the 245 vs 255 debate, I prefer the 255 RE71 over the 245 RE71. The overall grip seems to be a bit better and can handle heat better than the 245. Also the 245 had much quicker shoulder wear.

With that said, I’d like to try a 245 Rival S 1.5 to see how it works out with the heat and shoulder wear.

For you guys using the Shorai battery, where did you get the brass terminals for connecting the cables? Doesn't look like the battery comes with them.

I went ahead and ordered a Shorai LFX36L3-BS12 battery. Will keep my 35 lb Wal-Mart battery in storage until next winter. Really looking forward to removing about 30 lbs from the front end!

Hi Justin.

How many days did you leave the adapter? I left mine in the car before and the car started 2 weeks later. Do you have the OBDLink?
