I'd check it before you even leave. If the stud spun in the hub, the hub may need replacing.

So I got the car back and everything is good except one thing.... I smell burnt clutch WTF?!!

How long does this smell last for and what should I do about it? How do you work at an auto shop and can’t drive a manual?

I'm sure they can drive a manual just fine enough to do a few donuts & spin outs in the parking lot lol.

J/K though.. But curious, how many miles do you have on the car so far?
And how long is the drive from the shop to your house?

One of the best investments you can make for your car is a dash cam.
Next time you can see everything a repair/tire shop does to your car (when it's not up on the lift).

Yep, nothing really you could do. Just drive with the windows down for a few hours.

You can't teach people how to drive manuals theses days. I really don't think they took it for a joy ride, most likely they ride the clutch to get up the ramps.

You could just call the manager of that place and just tell them about the clutch smell, but you'll just end up on their shit list.

If it was me I'll just look for another shop and tell them your previous experience with firestone. Most shops like to be competitive when they hear shop horror stories. They tend to make sure you have better experience with them so you can come back with confidence.

If it is the smell from a burnt clutch ....... it should dissipate in a day or so. If it last longer, you may want to check the cabin air filter.

The smell is still there after 12+ hours around how long does it last until it disappears? And I know I usually do stuff myself but I only went to firestone to have the wheels mounted and balanced... I don’t even know if that’s worth it or makes any difference... maybe next time I’ll just put them on myself.

You think if it’s not the clutch it might be a dirty filter or heater core? It’s been a while since I used the heater anyway except to defrost my windows but even without it on the burning smell is still there

Well, you COULD make your own bubble wheel balance ......

However, I would recommend that you have the wheels professionally balanced ..... unless they are on a hay wagon ....

First off, are your sure it's the smell of burnt clutch .... ?? Yes, I realize that a burning clutch smells like nothing else.

The reason I mention the cabin air filter is if it picked up the odors of a burning clutch ...... it may hold on to them for a while.

What I would suggest is that you go up to the store and get some odor-eater-cover up-smell stuff.

(have you changed your socks lately ......?? ......)

The reason I ask about your mileage is because mines had a slight burning smell for the first few thousand miles too. Don't remember when exactly it stopped, but I don't think it lasted 12 hrs either though.
