Is it worth it to spend money on bolt on and custom tune on an AT?
For those AT owners out there, do u think spending upwards around 2k for bolt ons and a stage 2 custome tune is worth the $$$? Or should we just save up for FI? Power gains on an auto twin without FI is minimum compare to MT cars. Any thoughts?

I'll preface this with noting I have a manual. I've also had a ride in an auto.
What is it you want to do? If you're diligent, you could get a good header and tune that will be nice to have if you ever DO go FI... assuming you supercharge. And I think the gains are still just as relevant, especially flattening out the torque band. Also, FI is a game that always wants you to feed it money. Some of the options are amazingly stable on this car, but the increased stress is there regardless - so that rainy day fund is a must, even if you end up having good luck and not needing it.On a $2k budget, I'd be putting all of that into a header and tune... Tomei or the Gruppe-s header, Ecutek. You can save if you can borrow a cable and stuff but you'll still need the license and tune. If e85 is an option, a flex fuel setup could sneak into that budget - it'll definitely make a difference. OFT is a tuning option, of course, and can produce decent results - but unless you're doing the tuning, good luck finding anyone that will customize it for you. If you just throw random parts on the car hoping it'll do something, you're likely burning money. This morning I was reviewing a thread where someone posted a dyno of a header and a tune theoretically optimized for it, and it was rather sad. Choose parts carefully.

My previous car was an AT. A catless header and a tune will definitely be noticeable, improve the torque dip, throttle response, and fun factor. You can get a new/used header for $600-900, and an Ecutek tune and license for $650-700.

I have a 5.29:1 in the rear of my AT, and it is a WORLD of difference how much more fun the car is...
And since the AT has a double OD (0.582:1 6th) you still don't drone just cruising on the interstate. I love being able to treat it like a sequential (like my last race car), since I left foot brake 100% of the time. Though I still need to do it (on my April mod list), you will *NEED* to get subframe bushings and a diff bushing/cradle inserts or you **WILL** wheel hop, badly. Will also be redoing the motor mounts as well in the very near future (April or May) as well. |

Why wouldn't be? Engine is the same. AT is a bit heavier with a bit power loss in the tranny but thats it. So if anything, it is even more worth it than in MT. Do it

Question on these final drive mods, can they be done in a shop? How reliable these tranny mods once they’re done?

A fbo e85 AT will lose to a MT stock e85. AT are not worth modding NA unless you do a final drive change and if not, save money and get a turbo.
