Console Insert That Fits Plus-Size Phone?

Both my wife and I have +screen phones (LG6+ & Galaxy S9). The more annoying part of this car is our phones can't even fit in the center console without removing the cup holders.

Is there a larger cup holder insert or arm rest that has a couple inches longer unit to accommodate the rapidly growing size of smartphones?

Never heard of such a thing.

You already got your S9? You lucky bastard.

I gave up trying to fit mine in the center console. Just bite the bullet and buy a dash mount. It's worth it.

I put my phone in the slot part of the removable cup holder. It doesn't fully fit but as long as you have a corner of it sitting in the slot it doesn't move and I haven't had it come out while driving

Center console pocket width is even worse on cars with smart start button. In your place i wouldn't bother about modifying it, but rather install good mobile phone mount (preferably active one, so that less inconvenience to separately connect charging cable each time, and maybe universal one, so that both your wife and you can mount/use your phones in it. I got brodit one for myself & passed wire behind dash to usb charge adapter in glove-box cig-plug port for less wire clutter). With phone in mount it's also much easier to use them for eg. navigation or music playback operation. As for pocket .. i just accept as fact that it's useless. Recall one DIY mod of relocating start button to steering column & retrofitting wider pocket w/o start button on it, but i decided to live with it as is.

I have Android Auto on my Sony Nav, so there's no real reason to access or view my phone. It needs to plug into USB; I simply want it out of sight out of mind. Thinking I might buy one of the larger leather stitched arm rest consoles.

Ahh. That's something I'm looking to acquire eventually. Which head unit do you have, specifically, out of curiosity?

The Sony AX-100. Have enjoyed it a lot – great to simply speak to play specific tracks on Spotify and Soundcloud. Only annoying thing is the safety features can be a little heavy handed, ie. if you scroll 4-5x too fast, the app will automatically lock for a period of time because Android doesn't want you engaged w/the screen while driving.

Resolution is solid and most importantly, I got it because it has an analogue knob. I HATE having to touch the screen a couple times and slide just to change the volume like on most modern head units.

I use a Scosche magnet mount, but my phone is small. You can use CD slot mounts or suction cup mounts or any other types. Or just removed the cup holders.
