Thanks a ton everyone. This is great information. I might be overthinking this a bit I guess. I was going to try to cut into some pick n pluck foam or similar in a hard case so I could put everything in its place and then lock the case so I can leave it in the paddock when I'm on track, but I also wanted it to at least halfway double as storage in my garage, so it needs to be able to get in and out of the car. There's some fantastic ideas here in the thread.

My first track day is on the 24th, so I am not entirely sure what all I'm going to end up with yet. I figured I'd just wing it with a tote until I know what I'm going to need to carry, but once I get a list together I was going to get something more elegant.

Yeah I've adopted this as well. Trying to fit a huge tub along with wheels and other big items like a jack got tiring really fast. Having items broken into smaller bags is nice.

I'm usually the guy who's over prepared and will have a bunch of things for contingencies in case things go wrong. Usually end up as support for friends who have problems or breakdowns at the track. I've been getting lazy though and carry the bare essentials now. I looked at everything I brought over 1 season and took it out of my pack if I never even touched it. If anything goes wrong and I don't have it I figure I'm capable enough to MacGyver a solution or someone else might have something. If it's really bad I'm probably going to tow it anyways with AAA.

Best case for track use

If you want the best case get a Pelican case. I have been using two of them for more than 15 years and they are still perfect. They are waterproof and they roll. You can also lock them, if needed. Check sizes and see what works for you.
