Typical behavoural interview questions. The trick to them isn't so much what you answer as in how you answer. I use them all the time and don't really care how they would deal with the situation since we will tell them how to do that. I just want to see if they start to squirm, jump to conclusion in their response or can't give a comprehensive answer at all. How you answer can tell a lot about you to somebody that is trained and experienced in the techniques.

Responsibilities:

Ride Test Engineer


Position Summary: The Ride Test Engineer is responsible for evaluating the vehicle ride quality and working in conjunction with the customer to achieve ride performance objectives while adhering to valve system guidelines.

Position Responsibilities:

Perform various ride development duties, including testing activities and validation processes on-site and at the customer site in an independent manner to achieve customer objectives.
Write concise ride reports promptly and according to established procedures.
Evaluate the vehicle ride quality focusing on comfort and handling influenced by the damper, translate vehicle tendencies into changes in performance and recommend the changes based on customer goals.
Coordinate scheduling, lead development kick-off meetings and ride tuning events with customers
Serve as the direct liaison for the customer to obtain and outline expectations and tuning requirements.
Assemble, disassemble and test complex prototype hardware.
Document all component changes and ride development progress by maintaining accurate change logs and evaluation notes during every step of the tuning process.
Compile complete records of tests and conduct tests following precise procedures and specifications.
Communicate ride work scheduling changes and preliminary ride work requests to the Ride Development Manager.
Perform basic troubleshooting and determine root causes issues during ride tuning events. Report any product design concerns or issues to direct supervisor.
Develop strong working relationships with customers conveying both professionalism and strong product knowledge.
Direct the efforts of support technicians when conducting ride work at customer locations.
Maintain equipment, tools, and prepare ride kits in a safe, organized, and professional manner.
Support basic ride truck maintenance, including repairs, stocking and re-organization of internal tools.
Maintain an organized and hazard-free work area in compliance with all policies and governmental guidelines to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
Participate in continuous improvement programs.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
Support product development engineering activities when directed.
Comply with all IATF16949 and policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
0-2 years of related experience in product development/testing and/or automotive service (includes internship experience)
Basic knowledge of suspension technology
Experience with engineering assembly drawings
Ability to read and understand component and blue print drawings
Working knowledge of testing practices and test benches
Ability to use precision measuring devices including calipers, micrometers & dial indicators.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Software
Ability to operate Roehrig dynamometers and Sachs SP testers.
Ability to evaluate vehicle ride characteristics and associate them with product specific component changes.
Ability to troubleshoot computer, and equipment problems when working in remote customer locations.
Ability to travel and work on a domestic and international basis for 2-3 week periods with little or no support.
Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and schematics
Ability to learn computer controlled measurement machines
Ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment
Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong mechanical experience and solid problem-solving/analytical skills with a high attention to detail
Valid driver's license
