![]() How many miles on your car ..?? How long have you had it .. ?? Most all cars, during the winter, that aren't parked in a heated garage, are "stiff" when they're cold. It seems that this car is a bit more "cold natured" than many other cars. The Spartan build of this car allows many more sounds into the cabin that heavier cars don't. Most likely your car is OK. humfrz |

Thanks for having me! About 14k miles, had it since October, but it's a MY2016 car (approved used)
Didn't notice anything similar with my '97 MX-5 that I had previously, although last winter wasn't quite as cold as this years. The engine really struggles though if it's cold outside, about 0c or lower. Once it's fully up to temp it's fine, but the car sort of lurches for the first few minutes whenever you accelerate. Toyota's dealers have been useless fixing other issues for me though so I doubt i'm going to get anywhere with getting this fixed. As a side note, anybody else have issues with the brake feel? My pedal is super soft with the car off/idling, I can press the pedal all the way down to the floor. High revs, like 6k and up increases the stiffness of the pedal hugely, but only whilst the revs are high. Braking performance is normal though. Toyota told me this is normal behavior and after driving 2 different Yaris (one hybrid one petrol) that had the same thing with the brake pedal i'm thinking maybe this is a Toyota thing? Either way it's really disorienting when braking as the stiffness of the pedal is changing constantly. |

If your car's brakes feel spongy, first thing is to check the brake fluid level, the next thing would have the brake fluid replaced (and thus the system bled). The brake feel shouldn't have any connection to engine rpm ..?? I hope you get it sorted out ...... ![]() humfrz |
