Rotor rust not being removed by brake pads
I put my car away full of snow/salt (indoor unheated garage) and then didn’t drive it for maybe a week and a half (had to go out of town, get off my case). A bunch of rust formed on the rotors (not unexpected).
After driving 30 miles and doing a bunch of braking, the pads have cleared off the front rotors, but the rears are still rusty. I’m thinking the rear pads are obviously not contacting the rotors the way they should. I’m bringing it in Monday because it’s under warranty (it’s only six months old). Just wondering if anyone has seen this. Front rotor after rust was swept away: ![]() Rears after 30 miles and much braking: ![]()

Yes please bring the car to the dealership. If possible please live stream it.
Joking aside is this your first car? Are you a young fellow? Sarcasm aside, just drive it. Problem solved

As long as your car stops straight, I wouldn't worry about it.

If the OP hates the rustic look he should switch to drum brakes. Drum brakes are great as they protect the braking surface, retain heat so the brakes warm up quickly and stop nasty brake dust from ruining the shiny wheels. Oh, and you can paint them whatever colour you like without impacting the performance of the brake..

I'm sure it started out as a marketing gimmick. So sad.

Just picture the scene, you're in your science class, come up with idea of sticking steel disks out in the elements claiming they will remain spotless.. you'd laughed out of the classroom.. |

And then, adding insult to injury, the fad caught on! Now even bicycles have them. SMH

OK, so here is my rotor after driving 150 miles (mostly city driving) and doing a lot of braking. Do you guys honestly not think it's weird that my brakes are not cleaning off the rotor after hours of driving?
It's definitely a little better than it was, but should I really have to drive for days and days and brake hundreds of times for the rotor to get cleaned off?
