Quotes for dent and scrape repair

Hey folks,

I have a dent and scrape near the right rear wheel. It's not major but living in Canada with the use of road salt during our winters, my main concern is the exposed metal rusting eventually, so I want to get this repaired properly.

I have received three quotes to repair this and they vary widely. $1,350 from one shop, $750 from the second, and "around $200" from a third (all in Canadian $).

The two quotes on the higher end described a similar repair process - they would remove the bumper, pull the dent, and repaint the bumper and area near the wheel well, painting up and towards the door to blend it in. They said this would take about 3 days in the shop.

The guy that gave me the quote for $200 also said they would pull the dent and repaint the bumper and area around the wheel well. But he said I could get the car back the same day if dropped off in the early morning, which made me a bit suspicious. And $200 seems too good to be true, not sure what kind of job they would do for that price.

Anyone have any experience with bodywork? What sounds like a reasonable price for this kind of repair?

The $750 to $1,300 range seems about right for the region. I wouldn't touch the $200 job since the repaint alone would be more than that if done properly.

It entirely depends on what you want. The 1300$ job could turn out bad and tbe 200$ job could be decent.

Anyway, price is not everything. Though you do get what you give money for. whatever that is.

I personally would paint it myself. and materials will cost under $100.

ive used these products many times with success.

And I told you why that's a bad idea. Also, there's the fact that she often threatens to put pink polkadots all over it...

That's pretty close to what the work order for mine looked like for similar damage I got repaired last week. Main difference is my bumper was not damaged so only painting the quarter panel was required.

Cost was $950 CAD.

Sadly, I have to take mine back because there around 6-7 dust nibs and a few places with "rough" looking paint on the rocker. They are going to address it, but make sure you go over any repair VERY carefully. Use a flashlight and catch all angles, there is no reason for any imperfections if they are repainting. It should look as good if not better than the factory paint when done.

The paint blend is spot on though, so once the nibs and roughness are addressed I will be happy.
