Does anybody know whether I would be able to add in the STI short shifter at the dealer after my car gets delivered? I called my salesperson and he said "I don't think so"

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to be dealer-installed, it might just cost a little bit more than doing it at port.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.
When I bought my '04 Mitsubishi Evo VIII, I took delivery of it stock, but at the time of purchase threw pretty much the whole Mitsubishi and Ralliart catalogs at it. It was all included in the financing, and they had me come in a week or two later and the service department added all the accessories (I bought all those parts on the condition of free installation.)
Accessories are a decent money maker for brands like Subaru that don't have much for options on their cars, so I don't see why your sales guy would be against it.

My dealer refused to remove the $500 documentation fee from the paperwork. So I told them to throw in the STI short shifter in with installation and I would put my deposit down that same day. They promptly accepted it.

“I don’t think so” is not an answer. It’s eithier yes or no. Put some pressure on them and you will be surprised what happens.

Yes the dealers can install it. Pricing is up to them at that point.

Were they unwilling to upgrade your deposit to a sold order and customize the accessories? Or was it too far in the process by the time you secured it?

Positive overall review, but the comment section is your usual broken record of “gets smoked by minivans.” It’s like people have never encountered a corner in their lives.

Update! TS’s have been spotted unloading at the port of Richmond in the San Francisco area! I’d post a pic, but imgur isn’t working for me tonight.

Same here! I thought I was the only one in the North America who wanted Subaru to bring the tS over.

It shouldn’t be that big of a surprise. You’ve seen how long the tS parts thread is, so it’s reasonable to assume there would be demand once the real thing became available.

In addition to no aero kits, the cars are missing the rear bumper stripe too, so that must be either port or dealer installed.
