My hands get dry every now and then in the winter, and that wheel is stupidly slick when that happens. I've been meaning to get a cover one of these days, or maybe do a 550 cord wrap.

I don't understand what they were thinking when they chose that material.

I'm a very active hadn't washer. Stupid 86 now has me obsessively applying lotion so the wheel doesn't slip out of my hands and launch me into a tree.

I think I just need some cool fingerless eurotrash driving gloves.

Well all I can say is that it appears that many people here would have been screwed if they had to drive cars that their grandmothers drove without complaint.

I can not stand that material on the 17s steering wheel. It is slick to start with and can only get worse under certain conditions.

I'm that dude that uses mechanix gloves to drive tbh. Just don't like driving with cold steering wheel and freezing my hand on my aluminum shifter.

It's a fashion statement.

Put a toddler with an ice cream cone behind the wheel for about 30 minutes .....that will make it "tackier" ......

Have you not driven your average econobox or sedan ? The steering is way overboosted in general. Or even your average SUV. Cant tell what the front wheels are doing half the time. Kind of like American cars from the 70s but not as bad.

Gimme those in black with some 70s Bausch & Lombs, and we're in business.

(I did try driving with my summer weight motorcycle gloves, and it just wasn't working. Still too bulky.)

Used to have one with a pinup girl on my 67 F-250. Totally pointless, just looked cool.

There's a reason the steering wheels were the diameter of a hula hoop.

Yes and they are indeed numb. That does not make the steering in these cars "stiff" though. Has nobody else here ever driven a car with no power assist? How about ones that were not even rack and pinion? I guess "stiff" is subjective but good god how much easier can cars get to steer? My 70 year old grandmother used to drive her 64 Ford with no power steering every single day, all year round, and had no issues. My mother who weighs all of about 90 pounds managed with cars that apparently would put some people here in the hospital.
If people think these cars have stiff steering and are getting injured from them then maybe self driving cars can't come soon enough.

Yep. And yet they could be driven without the driver being injured.

Believe me I KNOW.
