Is there any way to make steering wheel lighter(softer)?
I had this 2017 toyota 86 for more than half year for daily driving purpose. And my right shoulder is getting painful with the heavy steering wheel ( got some inflammation inside my right shoulder). I just wonder is there any easy way to make the steering wheel lighter but not loose too much accurate.... or i have to replace the car to solve this issue....

Heavy steering? Get the alignment checked. This is one of the lightest steering cars I have ever driven. Not sure what you would replace it with that would be lighter.

I'm a little bit lack of strength i think....I always feel it really heavy since i bought it so i guess it's not the alignment problem. I used to drive like Camry or other daily driving cars which seems comfort for me. For the sports cars, i really like the steering feel of the new Alfa Romeo Guilia which is really light and accurate. I have searched a little bit and don't know something like a rack replacement will help a bit or not?

Maintaining tire psi is easy, quick and can have a big effect in steering feel.

The car i purchased comes with the 18inch TRD wheels with 215/40/18 front and 225/40/18 rear YOKOHAMA S.Drive and the TRD lower springs.

The others may be onto something with tires and PSI BTW, is there any reason why you can't drive with your left arm? |

I would suggest you go after the root cause of your pain. My keyboard, non medically trained diagnosis of your pain is that you have bursitis. I would prescribe you take a NSAID (like Aleve) for a week, as directed, to see if the pain subsides. If not, you may consider an injection of a steroid into the affected area of your shoulder. Along with one or both of those suggestions, use your left arm and shoulder for most of the steering for a week. If none of that works, I refer you to the "Chief" down at the Pot Shop on River Road, in Puyallup. He will fix you up with some herbal medicine ......:happyanim: DISCLAIMER: NEVER follow medical advice from some old man on a car forum! :D humfrz |
