Since we're already on the topic, I'm almost at 50k and I dont think the transmission has ever been serviced. The transmission is running fine so I'm not concerned about that but I am concerned about the fluid change vs fluid flush.

Should I do a FLUID CHANGE or a FLUID FLUSH? I know that doing a flush can sometimes make the transmission act up because of clogs and the bits of your clutches being washed out, but then again I'd rather talk to one of you guys who've had it done before

Besides the fact I have issues typing fast on my phone. You can not fault me for asking about the rear end (I love my wife's) when it was loose. If it was loose it would have been from me causing it. Who knew cold weather loosened it up also (she would kill me if she ever read this lol) The transmission still does not make sense to me. It was not something that started when the car was cold. I would drive the car for a good 15 minutes sometimes and then it would happen. It hasn't done it since it warmed up though so who knows.

For cryen out loud, Riftur, like many have suggested, please take your car into a shop and have the transmission fluid changed.

Even if that doesn't "cure it" ....... maybe you will think it did.......

Besides, then you won't have to do it later .......

Follow the procedure in the FSM (you can DL it from the forum somewhere). It is a drain and fill x3 to cycle the torque converter. I have had my ATF changed 3 times and about to do a 4th next month after my track day.

If you plan to do it yourself do it before driving the car at all that day. And the SST referenced to jump the OBD is just some stripped wire or a paper clip lol

I don't know where you live or how the climate is there, but I'll give you my insight.

I live in Virginia, the weather can be anywhere between 30, 45 or even 55 degrees this time of year.

Also about my car, 13 FRS with 47k ish miles. Daily driver and 2 owner.

Whenever I drive my car even during the summer I always let it warm up for a few minutes. During this time of year I always start my car 5-10 minutes before I know I need to get in it and leave so everything can warm up and idle for a while. I always drive the car in automatic mode and granny it even after it just warmed up. I promise you this makes the difference. If I put in that little bit extra effort to make sure its all warmed up and prepped I can beat the car around as much as I want and it shifts fine.

Now, sometimes even after warming the car up If I go straight into manual mode as soon as I leave the driveway it drives a bit awkward. Just keep in mind that even if the motor is properly warmed up those gears still need to get going and warm up themselves. Drive it like a prius for the first 5 minutes before slapping your shifter to the left and paddle flipping and I promise you it will make a worlds difference.

Well, it doesn't have a dip stick to check the fluid level if that's what you mean by being "sealed". But, the drain and fill plugs are NOT welded closed ......

Yep, you can always do it later too.

But, changing the transmission fluid is kinda like having sex ...... once you pass up an opportunity ...... you can never get that back ......

Do you think 45-50k on a daily driven slushbox is too late?

Oh, I don't the brand would make much difference, as long as it meets the specifications in the maintenance manual.

I have found that (usually) a "sealed transmission" can be unsealed, using alcohol ......
