Since the size is pretty close to the S2000 can we do some more speculating on weight? The S2000 comes in at about 1300kg (2866lbs). I want to compare the supposed weight of the engines. I can't find anything definite on the web but I found one source saying that the F22C weighs 326lbs. Does anybody have an idea of what a 2.0 boxer weighs?

I also found that the Nissan S13 coupe weighs 2700lbs while the convertible weighs 2800lbs. The convertibles were only offered in automatic so I wonder how much the auto trans weighs compared to the manual...

The more I think about it, the less likely it seems that this car will come in under 1300kg.

The 7th generation Celica curb weight is 2,425 lb and it is a 4 seater.

Assuming the engine bits aren't too much heavier, toss in a rear diff and I don't see why all of that would amass to more than 400 extra pounds.

I like using the Celica for comparison because it's lightweight and shares similar dimensions.

FT-86
Length: 4,235 mm
Celica: 4331 mm

Width: 1,795 mm
Celica: 1735 mm

Height: 1,270 mm
Celica: 1306 mm

According to Subaru, the boxer engine has potential to be lighter (at least in the below comparison to a V engine)

^ I hope it ends up like the Celica, that way it will cost between $20-25K depending on options.

convertibles weight more due to the removal of the roof there needs to be other ways to ensure structural rigidity

seeing as the s2k came in at that weight with a power folding top I can see the FT86 hittin the target weight of 2700ish no problem

I was under the impression that since the S2000 was never built with a roof in mind, that did not apply. And also there is only a 100lb difference between an S13 coupe and an S13 convertible even though the vert has an auto transmission and the coupe has a 5 speed.

Subaru Impreza WRX (sedan)
Wheelbase: 103.3"
Length: 180.3"
Width: 70.7"
Height: 58.1"

Mazda MX-5 (Miata)

Height: 49.0"

Chevy Camaro

True but the eletrical and motor for the top down in 15 secs is where the weight is

I do believe the s13 had a manual top you had to fold down yourself? Correct me if I am wrong tho

Woah the Camaro is huuggee compared to the ft86
