Your dealer is lieing...no dealer is getting "random" cars. Sounds like they took your order and sold it to the next customer, likely for a mark-up. If it was a strange occurance, "random", car, they could have easily sold it to you and then cancelled your order. SOA doesn't care, they just want to sell cars.

I think the dealer (Stivers Subaru) ordered one for themselves and decided to sell it ahead of mine. Unfortunately I'm stuck with them as I put down a non-refundable deposit.

I 'prayordered' a white limited manual 5 weeks ago. I called soa on thurseday with my VON. They said they could not even find my VON, and she would contact me in a week with any info she had. I recieved a call from my dealership the next day saying that my car will be here on the 13th.

WTF is this crap? I swear stories like these make me wonder if going with Subaru is a mistake.

Dealers do appear to be getting random (non-ordered) cars. I base this on two separate dealers getting cars that are NOT part of their cars ordered by retail customers (Fairway Subaru G'ville SC & Ind. Blvd in Charlotte NC). I am not certain exactly how this is happening but it is...

I can confirm this is happening. I'm 1/1 at my dealership, but they were also able to order another 'lot car' that didn't count towards their allocation. Both cars have a VON and waitlist status

Johnson Subaru got 2 random cars recently...this was part of the reason I decided to cancel my preorder and buy a quasi-local BRZ instead. SoA is seriously screwed up.

After some nagging I finally got a "tenative" ERD of August like many of us have. I'm 3rd out of 7 allocations at Beechmont Subaru in Cincinnati. The first two guys have already gotten theirs.

(For clarification/update of my previous post) I talked to my sales manager today. He indicated maybe August for me? He told me that if a dealership has 10 cars for their allotment for the year that if they place orders for only 7, then 3 cars may be sent at random...

And this is why I jumped on a car I miraculously found with the exact trim and options. Different color, but that never really mattered to me.

Honestly everything about the ETA of this car has been a guessing game with no one even having any remote information to base their prediction on. At this point any cars left from preordering in March and April are coming either in August or September becuase they arent any other options to choose from. Dealers are almost useless in finding out anything and SOA is only good for finding out that your order is their. Id like just one concrete piece of information, is that so much to ask for?

Sorry for the Vent guys, just been getting really impatient which I doubt Im alone in doing so
