You can do sound deadening in the rear to try to minimize.

The whole trunk area and inner fenders can be covered with something like Dynamat and MLV. Using a dense material on the rear seat (sliding it through) helps significantly in isolating noise.

The trunk from factory is a bit of an wind/echo chamber and not much else. You wouldn't have to commit to the full vehicle treatment if only the rear is worked on.

Ok so changing exhaust is the way! Will be hard to get rid of this one here in Sweden I think :P what other exhaust have the deep bass sound ? I want it to be aggressive but not to much drone. I have a feeling that n1 got quieter now with some time is it possible? or is it just me getting used to the sound

Add some to the trunk. The thin metal will resonate with the exhaust and add to some drone and noise.

Trust me.. I've been there. You need a new exhaust -- nothing will quiet that beast down except a larger exhaust.
Yep. About 25% of the cabin is enclosed in glass. Hard to soundproof glass.

Yep. Agreed. I bet people don't heed my word on this -- as I (at one point) also believed, after reading so many sound deadening threads, that some deadening in the trunk would solve drone/loud exhaust. I learned the hard way after all the work that it is NOT going to tame an exhaust down anymore than 10-20% at most (assuming you did an epic job of deadening).

Deadening does an awesome job of improving cruising comfort, but it's not going to quiet down a cannon in the rear of the car.... and if someone is taking the time to post their frustration with an exhaust on a forum, then they probably are wanting it tamed down at least 25% or more. The only way to do this is to change the exhaust.

I thought all the people who buy the N1 or Tomei exhausts wanted the obnoxiously loud noises.

Quiet alternatives are the nvidia Q300, Perrin 2.5, and Greddy SP.

It's just you getting used to the sound. Exhausts get louder over time as your muffler packing degrades from exhaust heat.

Yes.
I hear people say all the time that they think their exhaust is getting quieter and loads of responses say something like "well they get quieter as the carbon builds up in the system". If you have enough carbon building in the exhaust of a modern petrol fueled car to make the exhaust quieter you have a serious combustion issue someplace. Exhaust systems will never get quieter.
