Finally got the pedal mounted,,, feels OK probably should of moved it moved towards the brake pedal more for better heel & toe. Next time

Cut the transmission mounts out. Sent the two side plates out for welding but didn't get them back yet. The thoughts is I want to mount these first (4 bolts to each side of tunnel) then locate the 'U' plate that the trans will bolt to. These are kind of like the Vorshalg mounts.

Started on the exhaust while I wait. I'm using a 2.5" exhaust kit from Summit. 4 - 45's, 4 - 90's, 4 -180's and 4 straight pipes. I'll also be installing a resonated X-pipe in the tunnel then out to two spiral flow mufflers. Assuming I can get it to fit.

Had to take 2.5" pipe and make it fit a square hole in the flange so to speak. I found that putting it in the vice to squish it down to fit in the flange,, then weld the top and bottom, then finish shaping the sides with a pipe and a hammer worked pretty well. I feel for you guys doing 3" pipe,,, not a lot of room around that steering shaft. I'm still a little closer to those brake lines than I care for. I mocked the next couple of sections with 2 45 degree pipe on each side,, puts me really close to where I need to be. Don't want to weld this until the transmission mounts are done.

Also ordered a new TIG welder this week. A Lincoln Square Wave 200. Merry XMAS to me from me!!!

This is one of my favorite build threads on here. The oddball power plant, and some of the unique features of it are fun to watch you work through.

Keep it up!

Man, you are not playing around. That's just brilliant. Keep the detail pics coming.

I just have the little Harbor Freight inverter. It's ok in a pinch but that Lincoln is sweet.

I've had my Miller 140 Mig for a while. A nice box but can't do the thicker material. This new one can run up to 3/8 Steel single pass plus 3/16 aluminum. TIG and Stick. It's a slick little box and the price was really good, no tax and a free helmet. I reeally want to be able to weld aluminum. Not for just the cars but the boats as well.

Not too much to report. Got the brackets back for the transmission mount. They are warped and wont sit flat against the tunnel. Going to remakes them. Really need to get these finished so I can order a driveshaft.

Got a new top brace for the radiator done last weekend. Basically bolts to the same location the old radiator mounts went, then to a 1/2" square tube across to the other side. It's light but quite strong. I made a bracket that will pop rivet to the top of the radiator that'll attach to the brace. Next up mounting for the AC condenser and the fan shroud,,need to make a shroud as well. Then the cold air intake box next to the radiator. Have a three day weekend so I'm hopeful I'll get all of this done.

I'll post some pics after the weekend.

What I'm really looking forward to reading about is the integration of engine control into the rest of the Toyobaru network.

I'm watching your thread every day so I'll ship it when you get close! New code is in the works with some other partners so hopefully I'll have more to report. It's been awhile

Ahh - nice. Didn't realize he'd done the work for this motor as well.

The nice thing about GM is they share most of the CAN signaling between platforms and engines

I was going to say, most of the messaging is probably cut and paste from your existing LSx work.
