I suspect these headsets all use VSync anyways so I would think you would have to run 90fps to satisfy 90Hz (Not Mhz) with VSync.

They want 90 frames to be rendered per second and the screens need to refresh fast enough to make that happen. In this case it's sort of a defacto-Vsync @90FPS.

Oculus has a software trick to make it "work" at 45 FPS if it can't get 90, but 90 is ideal.
