Oil Change Interval

Can anyone elaborate on this? Since getting my car I've done the break-in oil change and then the 6-month. After doing the 6-month and looking how low my odometer was the service advisor at my Subaru dealership said I could run it as much as 1 year between changes if it was less than 6k miles (I'll probably end up around 5k-6k/year if nothing significant changes). Most of my driving is short distances though, often 5 miles or less at a time with most of that on city streets. Any recommendations which way to go on this?

Those short distance will grenade the engine. Oil temp and coolan temp need more time to heat up and blow any moisturize on engine passage. That conditions you mentioned is considere "severe" so change early for peace of mind
