I installed a Kenwood 9704S with the Connects2 fascia kit this past weekend (http://r.ebay.com/L7m7gQ). It looks great in person and was well worth the wait.
I noticed that each panel in the kit was actually Scosche branded although I can't find this particular product on their website, only on the Connects2 website (http://www.connects2.co.uk/Product/ProductItem/CT23SU15). For what it's worth, I used a 9704S + AX-SUBUSB2 + Metra 70-1761 + Metra 40-LX11 + 28-pin custom harness (http://www.autoharnesshouse.com/67122.html) without any issues. I'm able to use Android Auto on my OEM USB port even though many others have stated that it wouldn't work. I also installed a simple front bumper mounted camera to assist with parking in locations with unexpectedly tall curbs / wheel stops. ![]() ![]()

Looks like I'm buying one of those Connects2 facia's before they're all sold out, before I can start saving for the new headunit...lol

At this exact moment, I'm lacking the required steering wheel control module (Metra Axxess ASWC-1) however my custom harness is prewired for this specific module. I was in communication with Brian at AutoHarnessHouse and was given this option at time of harness creation.
All I would need to do it pick up an ASWC-1 module, plug it directly into my harness, and program it for use with a Kenwood HU. I plan to purchase the ASWC-1 in the next week or so; I just wanted to make sure everything else was going to work first since I initially went the route of the Maestro RR + TO1 harness flashed as a BRZ with zero success and flashed as an 86 with minimal success. I had to return a handful of items and didn't want to repeat that process again if this didn't work. I only purchased what was necessary to get it up and running (minus the bumper camera). I'll update this thread once I get the steering wheel control module plugged in and configured soon. |

I also have a '17 Impreza and when I get in my FRS, it's amazing how I miss AA (waze) and backup camera (especially in the FRS because much harder to see out of backing up). --kC

I was replacing my whole center console while doing my MVH2300NEX install because the previous owner botched the arm-wrest install. So, I got a new one to replace. Watched the video and looked easy enough and hey, it's only 10* out without a garage, what's the worst that can happen? Note: in the video, after he takes the 4 bolts off the center console (two under cupholder pad, 2 under shifter surround), he just says "pull here and everything comes out, including the tray and USB." NO. That's NOT how it worked in my '15 FRS. I pulled, pulled and pulled more. There are 2 more screws in the middle stack that you won't see with the console tray still there. You have to remove the bottom cubby and usb plug 1st to be able to pull out the tray and surround to get to those 2 screws. Once I got that panel off, install went off without a hitch for the most part. I got the stereo from crutchfield and thought I had the proper harnesses. I unplugged three of them from the OEM HU, but only had 2 harnesses for the new radio. So, I had to spend some time researching... the 28 pin connector that was removed from the OEM radio... doesn't get plugged back into anything. ![]() It's the steering wheel controls. 15 FRS doesn't have them. But... they're wired already! So, yeah, that was a long while wondering what I'm missing, which was literally, nothing. Sound quality sounds better and clearer than the OEM unit. Easy to navigate and use. Like the EQ to tune it a little better too. Also, the kit had two filler side black things that attach to the side of the HU to fill the side gaps in the center stack. You have to dremel out (it's even in the instructions) some of the plastic to allow it to fit over the OEM metal brackets. Because it's also cold in the barn, I broke a side after cutting and attaching. Plastic is a bit more brittle in the cold. Whodathunkit. --kC
