I would suggest that but I've hauled several exhaust systems before in my BRZ, and the amount of interior scratches from just moving around exhaust around is enough for me to suggest not carrying a ladder if possible, as the interior damage would make this a futile exercise.

+1 for hunting down Yakima parts for a roof rack. Saying you can put them on in 5 minutes is being generous. It takes me maybe 2 minutes to put mine on, less to take it off. Two person job to put mine on since I keep the bike racks attached to it, but I can lift it off myself. If you're just putting each end on individually, absolutely a 1 person job. Just put some clear bra where it touches the paint and you'll be good to go.

I've transported an entire King Size bed set from IKEA (sans mattress) inside the car. That includes an 82" x 40" headboard...

If you did this every week for the last year, then I would say it's more plausible for OP. Otherwise, saying "everything fits" vs "everything fits easily, quickly, and you can drive safely to/from work every day" is wildly different. |

I've moved a 6 foot xmas tree in my BRZ before... May have been a little less than 6ft, but it was definitely taller than me and I'm 5'10.
And as for scratches, invest in some moving blankets to wrap the ladder in. I used that for the xmas tree and my exhaust, my interior looks fine. The only scratch I have is when a shop loaded my old wheels into the back seat for me. Guess they thought they were doing me a favor but now I have a small scuff on the rear interior side panel

Alternatively, you can do what I do for occasional large loads...

Was hoping you would bring that up. It is a viable alternative to trying to cram a ladder into the back.

Or ladders like this
![]() There's a TON of room in these cars, especially once you put the rear seats down. Seriously, I think our trunk is bigger than a Camaro's... |
