I trained a bunch of great recruits on their Soldiers Qualification course. But I did have one that tried to load a belt of 5.56 onto their C9 LMG upside down on a weapons handling test. I told him "stop, take the belt off, walk down the hallway and come back to try again" he came back and did the same thing. That was a tough Progress Review Board to sit in on, since when the troop was doing his handling drills outside of a test environment, he was one of the better ones.

I remember, back-in-the-day, in California, when taking a driving test for a motorcycle license, the tester took me out to the little coarse they had set up. I fired my dirt bike up and rode it down from the bed of my pickup truck on a 2x4. However, I dumped the bike going around some cones. The tester just laughed and said that if I could ride the bike back up onto my truck on that 2x4, he would pass me. I did .......and did not crash ...... ![]() THE END humfrz |

If I recall the feed cover shouldn't even close with the clips down. I would have let him try and see if he figured out his issue on his own.
