This also a good point because during these clutch dump runs, the driver is forced to wait out the wheel spin. Better tires would equal less wheel spin, but increased stress on the clutch and transmission.

As they mentioned the only real reason the BRZ is so 'slow' from 0-60 is because of the required upshift at 59mph from first to second. If the car could just be left in first than I'm sure it would be quite a bit quicker. That said, who really cares about that stat unless you are racing other slow cars on the street.

It's a 2l 4cyl car. I wouldn't really stress about the 0-60, especially when you have to up shift at 59 lol.

It does 0-59 in 6.5sec, who gives a $#!t about that last MPH.

I also think this is just a myth. I've seen videos of the car at 60 rolling at 7400 rpms in 2nd. After my break-in, I will test this out. Regardless, this is just chatter at this point. The car feels like a 6 second car. It doesn't feel underpowered. nuff said.

What are you using for the accurate MPH read-out? The display could easily be adding 1 MPH to the precise reading to make the car seem faster.

The correct rotations per mile of the 215/45R17 Primacy tires is 844 according to Michelin. The differential has a 4.1 ratio and the gear ratios are: 3.626 2.188 1.541 1.213 1.0 and 0.767 so the accurate speeds at the 7450 RPM fuel cut-out are:

60*7450/4.1/844 ./[3.626 2.188 1.541 1.213 1 .767] which equals:

35.6 59.0 83.8 106.5 129.2 168.4

So you would need to shift to 3rd to reach 60 MPH. But, who really cares that the 0-60 time is slow because of the second shift?

I've seen plenty of videos showing it only takes two shifts to get to 60mph. I don't know what you guys are talking about.

Well after 2 shifts you would be in 3rd gear. You can reach over 83 MPH in 3rd gear.
