0 to 60

I usually check out cars from this site. They do have fair real true test data collection, not like those conservative car factory specs. Frs at 5.9s Brz at 6.1s The insideline tested the Brz show at 7.3s :mad0259:! what the heck with this insideline driver or recorder ? I did couple times w/ my frs and I feel it damn fast for this car and it should be in the low 6s compare to my current IS350 in the low 5s. The 86 is not that slow like the insideline editor driver. Has anyone checked it out yet w/ real proved source data? Please discuss and tip in ! http://www.insideline.com/subaru/brz...and-video.html |
I'm surprised by how many reviews place the FR-S/BRZ as a 7 sec 0-60 car... I know it lacks a bit of torque... but my 530 is capable of going from 0-60 in just a bit less than 7 seconds and it only has 25 more HP and 70 more tq... as well as 700 more pounds... The BRZ should, on paper, be faster than my car. :iono:

Pick up a G-tech and do your own tests. The older models can be bought for just a few bucks on eBay and they flat out work.

ive always noticed zeroto60times.com have different times than the factory estimated on every car. also my current car has 200hp and is about 3600lbs, and i feel like it has plenty of go-go

What what I have heard to get times around 6 seconds you need to do a clutch dump which is above the torque dip... So you're dropping it around 5k.
Many of the mags don't feel like putting it through that much abuse. Other mags such as motortrend are not afraid of it and routinely do big clutch dumps to get the lower times. They did the same thing with the WRX to get that 5.2 second time (or whatever low 5 sec time). |

I think edmunds was launching the car at 3500 rpms while MT was getting mid 6 launches with a 5k clutch drop. Lesson? Avoid the 3-4k torque drought. Edit* I think I saw one of subaruwrxfan's video where he took his car to ~60 in about 7 seconds with a slight roll out and no clutch drop. |
Maybe the large discrepancy has to with some shifting to 3rd gear to get to 60 while others simply letting 2nd bounce of the rev limiter. :iono:

I found this clip. He launched w/ clutch drop at 6.2s which is what I feel fast enough for this car. It's a 6 seconds car period. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPoZ1SC8uwk"]2013 Scion FR-S: A New Hope? - Ignition Episode 14 - YouTube[/ame] |
The numbers are good considering the OEM tires

One thing to keep in mind when reading straight line stats for this car is to pay attention to what it does from 50 to 100. It's much more competitive. I lost a casual stoplight race with a mini copper s up to 50 or 60 in my car vs a friend. 0 to 30 I was a car length back and still almost reeled him in before I quit a bit below 60 mph. This was without launching the car. |

Remember the car will still do 140mph |
