I think it is just fine personally. I'm 6'1" and can adjust the wheel to a position I feel fine with whether I'm in a normal roadtrip/driving position with the seat farther back, or if I'm closer up with a passenger behind me or for autocrossing. Then again, out of the 20 cars I've owned in the last 25 years, this is the first one I've had with telescoping steering wheel, and only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the cars I've owned even had tilt wheel.

Although I do like being my height, I do hate you for being able to physically fit into Miatas, MR2s, Elises, and pretty much any other of the really fun cars to drive. :-( and :-)

Well, I hate to be the one to revive this super old thread, but I wonder if any of you guys came up with solutions?

For the record I'm just under 6'2" and sit with as proper of a driving position as you can get - sadly, the wheel doesn't come close enough for me. I can compensate for this by moving my seat one click closer at the expense of legroom... the footwork is at a more awkward angle then *sigh*. I wish there was an aftermarket steering wheel (like Cusco, DAMD, Prova) that had a bit of a deep dish feel to it, then I could retain the airbag.

Slightly OT but I wonder how it would be like for tall people inside the BMW grand coupe... that car looks accommodating for tall guys.
I'm 6 foot but luckily I don't havw problem with 86's steering.

I'm 5'11''. It took me a long time to find a perfect seating position for the FRS. Then again, I've never had a car that allowed me to adjust my position in so many ways.

I thought the steering wheel could've used a bit more range in telescoping too. I don't mind it how it is because I'm not as tall as you, but this seems to be a common problem in other Toyota steering wheels. I drove in a '10 Sienna van, and that steering wheel could definitely use a lot more telescoping, especially since the seating position isn't as good.

Interesting, at 5'10" I have the steering wheel pushed all the way forward, never would have thought it would be an issue for taller people.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I'm 5'11" and having a similar issue with the driving position. My steering wheel is all the way out towards my chest, but I can only find a comfortable seat rail position either for my legs or for my arms. If I sit too close, my right knee will start to get tired on long drives, but if I sit too far, my arms are kinda straight and I can't step on the clutch properly.

5 months in and I'm still adjusting my seatback / seat rail positions.

Funny I never seemed to have a problem until winter so the problem could be attributed to the thick winter jacket and thicker shoes I'm wearing.

Why don't Japanese cars have infinitely adjustable seatbacks?

I'm 5'10" and wish the steering wheel came out a little further. Also, leg/body/arm ratios play a large part in this as well. I have longer legs so I tend to sit further back making me reach for the steering wheel.

I`m 6'1" and I find the steering wheel and the shifter too far away from me when my legs are comfortable on the pedals. I also wish I sat a tad bit lower. I`ve sat in cars with recaro pole positions or the sportster cs, and it solves the height issue, but the reach is something I want to fix...

perhaps the solution is to get a steering wheel with the spokes sticking out from the hub for a closer reach.

Steering wheel all the way out and still not enough reach for me. 1 click closer and my knees get uncomfortable after 45 mins. Having t-rex arms doesn't help lol.
