Try as I might I could not get oil past 111C. I gave up after 30 minutes as it wasn't really going anywhere.
I would say that my driving style is to over drive the car. This track is fairly technical. OBD Logged Temps: Max Ambient = 24C Max Oil = 111C Max Coolant = 94C Tyres = Dunlop Z2 225/45 R17 Car is NA, running ACE header, ACE FP, CSGxMXP Touring 86 exhaust and Delicious EcuTek tune. Coolant and oil temp axis on the left in C. RPM axis is on the right. I have also attached my best lap for the day, happened during this logging session. Car is probably good for a much faster time but I need to improve as a driver before I can get it sub 1:50. (BTW that foam I placed around the radiator is still fine, actually did some temperature testing vs the OEM stuff and it held up slightly better, not bad for regular foam from the hardware shop) Huge thanks to @CSG Mike and @CSG David. Also huge thanks to Jackson Racing. Totally satisfied with my purchase. |

I ran grattan racing earlier this year, outside temp was about 18C.
I didnt log the data, but the highest oil temp was 108C, and it drop very quickly. water temp was very stable at 88C, didnt move more than 2C in the whole day |

Noob question, is this a bit of an overkill for someone planning to stay NA?

I probably should be a bit more specific...
The only major performance mod I have is the JDL UEL headers, so no heatshield. Nothing else planned so far. I do plan to do a few track days a year. My car seems to be burning coolant on the track on a cool October day at Seattle, so much so that I lost half a day waiting for the car to cool down before I can fill it back up. I'm planning to go down south to Laguna Seca in the coming summer so I though I'd go prepared this time. I'd hate to waste another half a day due to cooling. |

For a high-speed track with long straightway, it would be recommended but it all depends on the weather condition. My temps dramatically changed when driving in 100 degrees weather vs 90. I doubt you would overheat an NA in less than 90 degree weather. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |

On a longer track sure, but if you're tracking that hard might as well get an oil cooler regardless. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk |
