I barely drive the FR-S. It's still fun, but it's not nearly as comfortable as a proper sedan or crossover. The ride is too flinty. It's fun to feel like the back wants to come around, but not all the time. Oh well.

But the RS3 is fucking awesome. I didn't test drive one, just the S3, and it was a fine-ass car. Just needed more power and grip to make up for the lack of lightness.

Maybe my dad will want the FR-S?

I know a guy who leased an RS3 last year, it's gone now, didn't last a year, gotta ask why, might've been purely financial but I know he said "I would never ever own one of these outside of warranty"

I do agree though, a comfortable car that's not boring as shit sounds great after owning an FR-S for a few years. I know someone who bought a 2012 Alpina B7, they're currently listed at prices lower than a new S3, I'll have to check that car out before he sells that one.

I wish I made enough money to be a serial car owner, at this rate I'll hit 30 having owned only two cars, at least I've gotten the chance to drive more than that.

Audi RS series leases are some of the worst I've ever seen. Like 1000+ a month for an RS3. Wut? This guy you know is not somebody to take financial advice from.

I don't want a 7-series. RS3 is a small car. Nothing is less reliable than a used 7-series. 1980s Russian cars are more reliable. As for Audi reliability, it's supposedly much better over the past decade. Consumer Reports disagrees. I guess that's what an extended warranty is for.

German cars don't have a reputation of their reliability and the repairs can be quite expensive. There is a difference to re-build a much cheaper Subaru engine, than these ones. I would buy a German car only if I could change it in the end of the warranty period.

I don't think it's that German engines are bad, it's more that the rest of the car disintegrates around it.

Electronic are the first to go bad in German cars. Unless you can afford to lease one every so years (and be trapped in re-leasing forever), I would never get a German car. Back when I used to sell Toyotas, people would tell me their stories of their ownership of MB, BMW, VW/Audi. A few of them even said the new ones aren't as well made as the older ones.

Same 400hp, lighter, miles more practical, and some $15K cheaper.

My father has an RS7, its only been 10k miles and three years, but no problems yet.

The new crop of Audi's have been fairly reliable, I'm familiar with the C7 chassis, issues are most related to false alarms.

Also comparing the Golf R to the RS3 isn't fair, there are a host of differences. It's like comparing a GT mustang to a GT350, similar but different.

Just remember when it's time to change the brakes, it's gonna be costly.

Golf R is a great car. It's also fugly. Tunes make it unreliable. Much slower.

CLA45 has the crappy A Class interior. Also much slower.

M2 is two-door. Nope.

M3 rides on bricks for suspension. No thanks. Also bigger than I want.

C63 S Sedan looks awesome, but it's too darned heavy. 4000lbs+? Ugh. Also slower except when cruising then punching it... the smaller RS3 motor takes longer to get up to boil. Nicer interior though. Much nicer. Also more expensive. Also significantly longer. Better brakes.

Alfa Romeo QF? Blech. And people say Audi quality is bad. I've had a Fiat. No more, thanks.

WRX? I want an automatic, and the CVT doesn't cut it. I also want much faster acceleration, a nice ride, and luxury. Same problem with the STI.

RS3 is the special niche.
