Strongly agreed. I just google all dealers in the area and write to them one by one. P.S. the FRS is not that rare. There is one blue MT sitting in my town for at least 3 weeks. (JF1ZNAA12D1702221) |

Definitely agree that the FRS isn't that rare. Though it seems that the BRZ limiteds are hard to come by. Becker Subaru by my house got a limited and a premium last week sometime, and the limited is already gone and off their website's inventory. Bummer...

Right now, there are 12 brz/fr-s vehicles available in the Sea-tac area of washington, and 17 available with 50 miles of my tiny New England home town. Mostly in the Keene, NH area. These RWD cars don't sell great in snowy states, so focus your search on cold states near you.
According to autotrader.com there are 500 cars sitting on dealer lots across the country, right now. Last edited by 86boyAF1; 07-06-2012 at 08:51 AM. Reason: Added info |

The Autotrader, Cars.com, and even dealership website listings cannot really be relied upon for accurate information in my opinion. The new inventories often contain items like reserved cars, vehicles that are not yet in inventory, or cars that have been previously sold. A couple weeks back I visited KC where there were 11 cars listed at 5 dealerships. I visited the 5 dealerships and saw 5 cars, including a sold car. Certainly there are some cars sitting on lots, including manuals, but personally I consider website new inventory information rather unreliable, especially for a car in the first few months after release.

What? I just talked to my friend who's a Scion sales manager and he traded his first 6MT Argento for a 6AT Firestorm that a customer wanted. Dealers can swap for whatever they want. Unless you're talking allocation?

Now that I have my car, I can only keep my fingers crossed for all of you that are still waiting. Take the matter into your own hands though, call every dealer you can! I went about 600+ miles to get mine. It was well worth it! |

Do your homework and extend your search area to surrounding states or further. Track down dealerships and call call call. They are out there, you just have to find them because the dealerships won't do it for you.
Just last Friday, a DGM BRZ Premium MT was up for grabs. A couple weeks before that a guy I know bought a Raven FR-S MT straight off a dealer's lot. Some people here have driven 1000 miles to get the car they want. They are out there. It's just going to take a little work on your part. |

It is VERY area-specific on how much FR-S's and BRZ's sell. The closest BRZ limited to me has already sold but there are like ten WRB Limiteds in Manual in the Long Island area alone for NY. I think FR-S's are actually out-selling them.
I imagine it's because most people would skip out on a RWD Subaru when we have pretty bad snow storms around here during the winter. People get the FR-S because Toyota doesn't have many AWD cars. If they came in looking for a Corolla then they might as well "upgrade" to the sporty FR-S. |

There is also the internet and autotrader. You can go each scion website and search dealer inventory. Or do a search on autotrader. It only cost like $600 to ship a car across country. Check the dealers up north. |

I decided to hunt one down last weekend and it took a few hours of phone calls but I located 2 MT's that were within 300 miles. Thankfully one was exactly the color I was looking for. There were about 16 listed on Autotrader within that radius and every dealer I called said those were either already sold or were customers cars that were ordered. They were all telling me if I ordered one that it would be here in a few weeks. I found what I wanted so I'm set and only time will tell if this was all just smoke and mirrors to build hype.
