FR-S - - Real Info

So I will save you all quite a bit of drama and frustration. As it works out, Scion, like Subaru, has a limited number of cars to deal with this year. For each car sold, each dealership gets two cars allotted for each one sold and the number of cars made this year is as restricted as Subaru as a 3:1 ratio as known on the sales webesites (cite insideline). On that same level, each dealership can basically trade a manual for a manual and an automatic for an automatic. At the end of the day I have dealt with literally ever single issue that is possible with Scion and payment down so trust me, this is the situation.

So in my young, but somewhat legit (in my mind) opinion, let me say this: There are honestly not that many cars Scions out there (for what you want). Yes, you can order a Subaru, and they are brilliant but they do weigh and cost slightly more. At the end of the day, and for what it is, Scion is really nearing the end of what they have for the rest of the year. Take this as it is, the next model may very well have some upgrades (though on that I know nothing).

As far as I know that is the absolute truth and I have gone though hell to get this info back. I do hope this is helpful for you as I've put a depost down in April and I will not get my car back until mid August.

So Cal also had huge allocations compared to other places. I am in Portland and have yet to see another Fr-s or BRz... ever. The only ones I see from the area are on this forum. Also, out of the 4 dealerships that sell Scion they are still requiring deposits and a wait period.

Same, I literally had three dealerships contact me about them getting a BRZ in this week and wanting me to come look at it. I guess no one wants sports cars in my area. It seems a lot of places have trouble finding them though.

Perhaps this post is more for the areas outside that allocation zone, but as far as I know, it's a battle trying to get the car you want unless you are down with any color and with an automatic.

You can find the car you want, don't let dealers fool you. Of course you would have to pay to have that particular car shipped to you.

Dealership is Wheeling Subaru in West Virginia, stated it was a limited edition and would be there tomorrow. However, it's across the country for you if you're in So Cal.

Maybe they not manual? I think more people interested in manual trans. Or could be the color .or a bad dealership

It is very area dependent I think....They sell like hot cakes in the Phoenix area...The dealer I got mine at had allocation for 10 for this year (from what I was told), and that I know, has moved 7 of those already.

raphymartinez 07-06-2012 12:33 AM

There are 72 Toyota dealerships in the Boston region (not all sell Scion but the vast majority do) and in this last allocation which ran on tuesday night there were 20 FR-S' to give, so obviously a lot of stores won't be receiving any. Scion allocation only runs once per month as opposed to Toyota's which runs twice per.
I had one FR-S left on the lot and it got sold today. Won't have any again for a few weeks :(

Didn't like a few members drive like 800+ miles to get their car? Be lucky the car was made in Japan and not here

Dude. I went through probably more heck than you. All you said is true, but I can take you one step further. The dealers are withholding some truth. The fact is the car you want is out there and close to you. And the dealer may even know where it is at. But he doesn't want to tell you because in order for him to get it, he has to pull strings on a trade with the dealer that has it. The problem is the dealers own the cars. Not Scion, not Toyota, not Subaru. The dealer owns the cars. So even though he has access to a database that tells him where you can go to buy your car, why would he tell you? That means some other dealer is going to get the profit on the sale. He is going to say it will take 3 or 4 months to get the car, because that's how long it takes to order one from Japan. Your best bet is if you can find a friendly dealer or just cold call around every dealer in your area until you find the car you want. You'll have a lot of ticked off dealers that really want to make a sale, but it will work. The other way is just chill till your car shows up which will save you a lot of headache in trying to find one. Trust me man.

Best of luck :)

False. Most of my local dealers have 2 or 3 frs in stock. Idk why your waiting.
