If you ever drive your car hard (and I suspect you will be if you're considering boosting), yes.

Duly noted.

I autox the car 8-10 times a year and track it 3-5 times a year. It's a DD the rest of the time.

Based on that level of use what supporting mods should I be looking at in your opinion? After reading through the thread I'll probably be going with just a base C38 with intentions of going HBP down the road (probably in another year's time when I can afford a built block).

Currently, the car has an HKS EL Header (Catless), TRD catback, LW crank pulley, GS intake (that would obviously get removed) and a custom tune that'd get nixed after install.

JRSC + oil cooler + custom tune.

You'll want to consider increasing your cooling, as you're substantially increasing your ouput.

PM me to order a kit.

I'm planning on putting in a Cosworth long tube header when I put the kit in and expect there are going to be a lot of the usual culprits; stage 2 clutch, injectors, fuel pump, oil cooler, etc.

Any particular Injectors/Pumps/Oil Coolers I should be looking at?
That header works great with it. Tight fit but it’s a great combo. Sits about 3/4” below the supercharger. Just took mine off and am selling it. But already miss the extra power.

Not even close to melting with the coating. Ran mine for close to 3000 miles and two full days on track. No sign of any heat issues.

Last question I've got. Does anybody know of overhead clearance issues with vented hoods?

I got this back from the shop Tuesday and would be pretty salty if it doesn't fit :P

Nothing sits on top of the engine so I think you’d be fine.

My MAF rubs on the hood blanket and is wearing a hole in it, but that’s forward of where your hood vent is.

I'm browsing this thread as I'm waiting for my carb C30 from JR to arrive

Wondering, with the included EcuTek system, are you able to do live gauges? Would you need a PC / laptop hooked up? Anyone have a system where they use EcuTek to pull live data on a smaller device (linux / android / custom device, etc.)?

I don't have anything permanent, but I use Torque for android for this now and then if I'm checking in on things (or just because it's neat)

I have a little bluetooth odbII adapter that talks to my phone. You could do this permanent by mounting a tablet or something, but the bluetooth adapter I have would drain the car battery when not running I'm pretty sure.

I would recommend the Ecutek bluetooth dongle; the polling rate is an order of magnitude higher than most wireless dongles.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, looks like I'll have to do some research on the relative merits of both. Ecuconnect seems to offer a cool interface along with some advanced features at a higher price. Figures that they wouldn't want the ProECU kit to overlap that functionality.

Actually, they are working on something, but it may not actually make it to market, depending on how the bluetooth units sell.

The actual Ecutek hardline cable kit and ProECU poll just as fast as the bluetooth unit, but the bluetooth unit lets you use a phone instead of having to use a laptop.
