I agree with your point about the semantic nature, and don't think this exhaust should be illegal. But, I also think it's important to realize that there could be an objection to this exhaust based on the fact that it's considered a track pipe. The term is no defined in the SSC rules, simply stated that they aren't allowed.

Obviously the point of banning track pipes/muffler deletes and restricting exhaust materials to steel and stainless steel is to not give anyone a significant "weight advantage." As silly as I think it is to ban the most affordable, and still very tolerable, exhaust options for this car.

If I were making a ruling on, as the rules stand now, I'd probably say that being a "track pipe" makes it illegal. The same way I'd argue that the "steel or stainless steel" only rule makes any titanium exhaust illegal, despite it meeting all other required specifications. It simply need clarification.

It's been stated elsewhere that the exhaust rules are being revised, so we'll hopefully have a better idea soon.

I have a GReddy cat back, as long as that's legal, I really don't think I'm going to care too much about what everyone else has. Spec is never perfect, I think Street Rules here would be just fine.

Now I just gotta learn about offsets and make sure I pick the right wheels that won't rub...

Talking of wheels. Most 17x8 I have seen meeting the weight are between +45 +48

Any wheels closer to +40?

The Konig Ultraform can be had in a +40 and by the time you add valve stems, wheels weights and a center cap, I bet it's 17lbs.

Don't know about you guys, but I'm giving the proverbial brakes a bit of a squeeze on this for a bit. Just heard from a reputable source that another revision is "under discussion."

IMO, It may still not be the final revision. You've got months before you'll NEED these parts, and none of them are unobtanium, just some might be called out as non-kosher, or more might be let in. Might be useful to let the ink dry before going after every last little bit of the specification.

This is how the sausage gets made.

IMO, It may still not be the final revision. You've got months before you'll NEED these parts, and none of them are unobtanium, just some might be called out as non-kosher, or more might be let in. Might be useful to let the ink dry before going after every last little bit of the specification.

Welp I already ordered the Stage 1 kit on TireRack so I'm committed. Just waiting to order wheels and tires. Everything else I'm not too worried about. As long as my SWEET JDM YO HKS drop in filter is allowed as well as my Catback Exhaust, I'll be happy

If I was going to spec class I'd wait until March to really buy everything (autox season here in the PNW allows me to wait that long). It's a shame the exhaust rules are getting kinda crazy specific because it's what will ultimately keep me out. Maybe in 2019 when the specs are solidified and there's evidence of long term stability for the class I'll reconsider.

The stage 1 kit is probably fairly safe, but the wheels have been revised once already, and no one has filled in the blank even on a preliminary level on the tires. We're not sure if a nameless-type exhaust would be allowed, and there's some confusion on the crash bolt/SPC bolt arrangement.

It's...um...fluid. It won't hurt me to put my credit card away for a bit. My next event won't be until April, and TR delivery is super-dee-duper fast.
