Step 1: https://www.amazon.com/F108S-FUMOTO%.../dp/B004FFHH0M (Grab the small hose kit too)

Step 2: Drive on ramps

Step 3: Drain Oil with a quarter turn

Step 4: ??

Step 5: Profit

But Really, with the Fumoto drain valve. This car is the easiest oil change I have ever done. Hell, i can do it in a 3 piece suit without getting dirty.

Just be sure to keep good records.

I think outside of GTA, in smallish family run dealerships, you'd get better service. But in these cut throat GTA joints, it's a bunch of people that just care about making money. Plus I think what it comes down to is them not being too familiar with the car. Mechanic stalled it trying to drive up to the ramp... like what

Meh, I've owned the car four and a half years, 63k miles, stalled it three weeks ago backing out of my parents driveway.

What kind of records should I keep if i'm changing my own oil on an under warranty car?

I like to do my own oil with Mobil 1 but I'm also thinking about documentation for warranty claims.

Usually I do the Mobil 15K once a year, but I'd like to change it more often for a "performance" vehicle. My Silverado and Civic don't really mind.

Who else is using the Fumoto drain valve? Any tips there?

Bill

Receipts for the oil and filters - air & cabin as well.
Date. Current mileage.
Put them in the folder you keep specific to this vehicle.

+1 on FuMoto.
Can drain right into the old gallon jugs I saved from the last change.
No swabbing out the drain pan to keep it from slopping around the shop.
No hot oily fingers.

This. I also sit in the car and take a pic holding the new oil filter and receipt for the oil, with odo in the background.

Fwd hot hatch + boost = lots of torque

Engine was moving far enough under power to put the axle under duress, foot to the floor on slalom exit, a little bit of steering angle and pop goes the axle.

It's got a bracket now to prevent the engine from moving too far, seems to be holding up good for now. Want really my fault, could have been either of us.

Anyway, back to drain plugs.

So a little update. Got another oil change and saw the same drips of oil yet again. Went to another dealer for them to tighten the drain plug and they said it's tight and the leak might be coming from somewhere else. But if that's the case, common sense dictates that I would have noticed the drip drips before I got the oil change.

I guess it wasn't! Well the first time it happened, I'm not sure if they drained, re-filled and re-sealed it or what. But I noticed this time it went from dripping a lot to gradually almost nothing. So what does that mean? Is there a bit of oil getting stuck somewhere and it just drains out bit by bit? Seems unlikely. Either way, it's annoying. Might have to get a new plug if it keeps happening.
