I think that your failure is to understand the very old joke of not having a battle of wits with an unarmed man. Fangs of either a physical or metaphysical nature are not required (nor actual arms for that matter).

It worries me not that you fail to understand my understanding and claim as though my understanding is a lack of understanding. A clever understanding is an understanding of the situation at hand, perhaps you could understand?

This I know of you, but your posts have been of a slightly different tone as of late. We are in need of a new, god of all cars, who has driven everything from BMW i8 to a Pontiac sunfire, who will give us random information that we are all in need of. A German car specialist and also a Torx specialist. A professional driver who knows that The BRZ/FRS/86 can pass cars like a motherF'er. And lastly, a man(child) to call everyone who is foolish enough to oppose him a idiotic moron, knuckle dragging fool.

I much fit the last part, but alas, I cannot fully utilize my 86 to pass cars like a motherF'er, nor am I a German car specialist and also a Torx specialist.

We need a summoning circle and a Ouija.

Since you already have the TRD catback, I would buy a Perrin Intake Inlet Hose, and a Works Drop-In Air Filter, make sure you specify that they're for the 2017 MT if you have a MT, but if you have an AT, the 13-16 parts are what you want.

Wow! This thread got really random! That takes a special kind of talent.

Alright, I need some clarification. Are you guys saying there are two kinds of TRD air filters? One for the TRD air box and one for the normal air box (stock replacement)? When you go to Toyota's website and try to build a car with options, there are two TRD air accessories: one with the box and one without. But it never occurred to me that the filter was different. I thought it was just the presence or absence of the box that was different.

I guess I also need to look up if the new stock MY17 manual air filter size is different than previous years. The box may be changed, but maybe the filter is the same. If the stock filters really are different, then is there a third TRD air filter just for the new stock MY17 manual?

I'm not changing anything at the moment. Just planning ahead for when I need to replace my stock filter at a normal interval. I was going to go either TRD or K&N.

There is a TRD drop in high flow filter for the 13 to 16s that just goes in the stock box and a whole unit with box and filter that eliminates the stock box and sound tube assembly. The filter it self is different for each. The drop in will not fit the 17s and I am not sure if they have come out with one for the 17s. The whole unit should work in the 17 though. It is expensive and really just cosmetic since the new intake has about the same flow.

The 17's filter (and whole intake) is much larger than the prior ones.

It is.

No idea about the TRD stuff, but the filter is different on the '17+ MT

The answers are all in the two posts above!

The TRD airbox uses a high flow filter that is different from the drop in replacement for the 2013-2016.

The 2017 airbox uses a smaller, thinner paper filter that is higher flow than the stock 2013-2016 (269mm wide vs 290).

Don't care if it goes faster. I just like the better VROOM VROOM noises it makes. Besides since it is washable I have saved a pile of money over the throw anyway.

And yes I know you were just being sarcastic.
